Hello greybeards, just wondering if anyone is on these boards anymore, or are they like a lost Hold, full of empty caverns and worked out mines.

Is This 100% Dead?

While it doesnt have the buzzling business of former glory, we still gather around the preaches corner for a story or two, or the forge, where creative minds continue to showcase their skills.

Still around, but not so often as I would have liked since I have so many projects going on right now besides the dwarfs. Glad that the forum still exists, and hopefully it will bloom again once The Old World game comes.

I've posted advice on crucial software over here. Forums have a place in this digital world, but they must be mobile friendly and have easy image upload.
This does not mean compromising rational layout and crucial archive mode. Discourse is the solution. Please consider it.

One main issue with this forum is that it's almost impossible to register. I tried multiple desktop browsers and was not able to register. The Facebook login is also broken. What didn't help was that there's no way of contacting anybody if you're not registered. The only browser I was able to register was mobile Safari. I really wanted to participate in a competition here, and that's the only reason I tried to register multiple times.

I'm still around and was a regular user and poster back around 2009-10. I'd still be keen, I just don't have good ways to engage in games that play Dwarfs. WHFB 8th / 9th ed is non-existant where I live, and there's not a strong Kings of War scene. I am waiting with baited breath for the return of the Old World as GW has promised.
When I move somewhere else in about 18 months I'll certainly be seeking KoW games in the mean time.

Coming back to the Brewery after a long hiatus.
Luckily the place is not dead (a fate that occurred to less fortunate forums).
At most, we could say that there are more active forums than this.
Lustria online is pretty strong.
Carpe Noctem was dying but now is coming back to a nice amount of traffic, with old and new contents... obviously undead, but there are plenty of resources for oldhammer Tomb Kings and if you're into AoS there are new handbooks for Soulblight Gravelords and Nighthaunts.

I'm fairly new here, around 3 months, and it seems to still get a steady list of visitors, and responses to threads within around a day or two

What's not helping is the outdated technical state of the forum. Some features are not working and things like picture upload don't exist. After an initial effort I put into my topics here, I stopped updating them since I always have to upload pictures somewhere else. As a result, I moved to other places 🤷‍♂️.

Yep, that's not helpful. Direct upload is a mandatory feature nowadays.

Yeah, the image handling is a bit outdated.
Maybe we could manage some inspiration Contests or Army parades to get more activity and engagement. We do this in our local community.
We have once a month a thread to present figures for a topic like „present your Clan Warriors“, „present your long beards“ or „present your war engines“. Everyone shows his models to the topic. Recently we presented our female dwarves, as most armies are lacking them for n parades.
And we do paint wars with other armies. Mostly against greenskins. The war runs a year and all present their models they painted this year. Each dwarf/Grobi/elgi/Umgi counts one point. Ogres and troll sizes models count two as well as war engines.
After running this for over a decade, we can announce, that Skaven and undead are no mass army and only the greenies were able to compete against us.

Evening All,
Odd, the software should still upload.
Sadly Invision whom made this software shafted a lot of people. It’s possible that I will put this forum into read only thus preserving for all to see but reopen it in a new more modern software. How does that sound?
Picture galleries may just have to be done inline as free forum galleries are hard to come by.
But welcome thoughts. Discourse is nice but it requires server side upkee, something many years I looked at but couldn’t fathom easily.
We are definitely not dead, not whilst at least there are a lot
More pointy earred elves that require dealing with….

We’re dwarfs, we do things slowly and with care, and plan for the long term!
I’m still here!
