Mission was get to the center. This was a pretty aweful match up for me 🙁. He won the roll for first turn and deployed everything. I deployed hoping to refused flank. My vanguards were gimped by his Scouts. Throughout the game the Gyros only rolled either 1's or 6's (this becomes true of the ENTIRE event other than 1 roll...) so killed nothing but 2 chameleons and then got BT'd off by the skink chief. The Big slayer block with Lord gets chaffed up and never gets to participate. The smaller unit and the VS's just get shot off. One of the Warlords gets a charge on my Rune Lords unit (the warriors) at full strength, wins combat by 1, I fail LD and get chased down 🙁. The Quarrellers and the miners live through the game but he gets the center of the table.

Mission: Get into their Deployment zone. Angled Deployment. This was actually a great game against a guy I've played at a few tourneys who is a pleasure to face. Again he won the roll off and deployed everything. I vanguard a bit and I feel im in a good position. First turn his Gnashers nail a 15" charge on one of my gyros (which I held for), wiped it out and overran into the small slayer block's flank which was facing the Idol and the Savage Orcs. his spiders chaffed up any support the unit had so I charged out with my Daemon Slayer into their flank. Long story short, over many rounds his fanatics plastered my army netting the following kills: Daemon Slayer, Half the big slayer block, both VS's, One Gyro, Half my warriors and half his Giant. I killed off his war machiens, Fast Cav, Gnashers, Giant Spider, Idol and some other stuff. Was a really tight game where I learned how awesome giants are (First round with the warrior block he rolls a 3 and blats my Rune Lord with 11 S6 hits ><) then wipes out the rest of the warriors in the final round. Was a 7-3 but I got the mission and he didn't so twas a draw.

DRAW 5-5

Round 4 - Tomb Kings
His List:
3 x 20 archers,
2 sphinx's with flaming breath,
one of the other type of sphinx,
2 caskets,
level 4 (Sands, +1 to cast),
level 2 (Sands),
tomb architect,
38 Tomb Guard
6 chariots.

Mission: Get the two objectives. One Sphinx got a charge on the big slayer block that meant it could only contact 1 model because he put the chariots in too. The Slayers had -1T on them and the Sphinx had the +1 attacks. The chariots killed a massive 1 slayer (I forgot YCwM works on everything now - i thought at the time it didn't work on Impact, breath and Stomps like the last edition ><) the sphinx then goes (im going GW's as the monster had a 3+) and killed 8 with the crew (12 attacks S5) all 4 with the monster, then gets the full 12 with the breath weapon and 5 with stomp... the deathblows I did throw killed the sphinx and the Lord who was in the unit then solo'd the Chariots...
From there the caskets killed off my Gyros turn 1, then my Slayer lord and one VS turn 2, the other VS turn 3 (After he solo'd a Sphinx hahaha!) then it was basically a white wash. I couldn't grind down things and he shot off everything I had 🙁.

Mission: Get into their DP zone, straight deployment.
I won the roll for first turn, deployed everything, Vanguarded, Marched... His first turn my army is just over 3" from his army 😃. He charges. We fight it out. My slayers kill everything that comes their way. One VS kills off the Daemon Prince. The Juggers manage to break through and kill half my Quarrellers, but the other half kill off 1, then get away. The following persuite through a wall and a forest kills another Jugg and leaves the champ on 1 wound. he then dies to over watch. I wipe out everything he has on the table by the end of turn 4.

Mission: Get into the center.
Same as last game: I won the roll for first turn, deployed everything, Vanguarded, Marched... His first turn my army is just over 3" from his army 😃. He charges. We fight it out. My slayers kill everything that comes their way. Highlights were my Warrior unit champion with Distracting and -1 to be wounded, putting a wound on his Lord in a challenge! then breaking the marauder block and running them into the miners. One gyro finally DOES SOMETHING and killes 11 marauders. The points at the end left me only 21 points from a 10-0, and with an opponent complaining about how insane slayers are.... Maybe because my Slayer Lord killed 3 Dragon Ogres, two chariots and both casters.... :p

Taurosaur (175):
Ancient (40), Sharp Horns (25), Engine of the Ancients (40)

Mission: hold the two objectives.
This was an interesting game. He won the roll off and castled up except for the terradons and Chameleons. I put all my guys in front of the castle and ran at him as fast as I could. Shooting took off a little bit, but I made it in close without too many worries. he chose to charge everything he could at my big slayer block in an attempt to just wipe it out and push through my lines. 2 Stegs, all the Saurus (with both skink priests) and the Trogg came in. Then it all went bad for him... My lord took out the BSB at the same time as taking a wound. Impact hits only killed about 3 slayers after I made 6, 6++ saves... My slayers killed off his other steg, the Trogg and 10 saurus for only 10 more lost in return. This meant my Warriors had a flank on his Saurus and my smaller slayer block had a long charge on his final Steg which they made. His skink on Terradon, the Terradon unit and the chameleons accounted for both Vengence Seekers, both Gyros and some of the quarrelers, but with my miners arriving and BWing off the chameleons and my warriors / slayers taking the fight to him, he couldn't get anywhere and was annihilated.

Win 10-0

Overall I had a very fun tourney. From what people were saying they felt it was very rock paper scissors (due to the many list building options provided by 9th) and this can be seen in my games for sure. Some matchups (MSU lizards and TK's) were aweful, but others were excellent (Khorne Chaos and Monster Mash lizards). I dont have my final placing yet but should have soon - I think it was aroun 5th or 6th out of 30.

My thoughts on units:
Daemon Seeker: TOTAL GOLD - monster in combat, claimed more points solo than anything else in the army. Much respect!
Rune Lord: meh - loved the spells, did exactly what I thought he would. Solid choice
Dragon Seeker: ALSO GOLD - kicked Test - took names in a 75 point kinda way 😃 often added much needed killyness to the units.
Rune Smith: Was a sweet combo putting him in the minors with the breath attack. But i chose the wrong bound spells for him ><
Warriors: Good.... BUT didn't do as well as i'd hoped as they hit like a wet paper towel & it felt like EVERYTHING had +1 to hit and S5 so shields meant very little...
Quarrelers: As expected... probably too expensive for what the do. ended up just objective sitting in most games.
Gyros: Aweful. Total poo. My rolling really REALLY let them down. As in the unit is fine but my dice on them hated me
Seekers: Gold - suck at getting shot at haha - Rock face in Melee. Whenever an opponent would complain about them being super OP - I remind them I have to die to be good... so its a two way street.
Vengence Seekers: LOVE WITH ALL MY HEART. Epic unit that scares the living hell out of people and unless I was a git with them they were mostly the man of the match each game.
Miners: Quite good, though less relyable than before at turning up. I think pistols are a good choice, but if I didn't have the Rune Smith with them I think i'd go GW's... not 100% sure yet.

Hope this has all made sense 😃
