2500 Dwarfs vs. WoC
A few weeks ago I had my first 8.ed match against a friend of my. He brought some chaos warriors and I got my dwarfs out the closet.
And since we both are a bit "rusty" (between us this is my first 8.ed and with only a few 7.ed games), the army lists and tactics might be slightly odd. The same could then be said of my English spelling, but I hope you'll give it a chance any way...
And btw please bear in mind that my diagrams were made before I found a diagram program, and hence were drawn in paint...

He had:
Wizard lord lvl 4, Mark of Tz, some dispel scroll and a blade which made him cause fear.
Sidekick lvl 1, death magic, stuff...
Exalted bsb, common stuff, mark of tz and a sword of might.
Exalted on disk, mark of Tz maybe more stuff.
40 marauders, command and nothing else (he forgot to buy gear for 'em)
6 marauder horsemen
2•5 warhounds
23 chaos warriors, mark of tz, full command, shields and a raptorus standart.
23 chosen, mark of tz, halbards and full command.
3 chaos trolls.
Warshrine
Hellcannon

I had:
Runelord, Anvil of DOOM, spelleater rune and some protective gear.
Thane bsb, protective stuff but he never saw any action.
Challenge thane with Great weapon.
25 warriors, full command shields.
10 quarellers, mus and veteran.
15 longbeard rangers, full command and a rune of battle.
24 hammerers, full command.
24 ironbreaker, full command and yes I know they aren't the most awesome troops, but I've just got 'em painted are ironbreakers are just too cool.
15 miners, full command.
1 cannon, engineer and a rune of forging.
1 Stone thrower, engineer, rune of accuracy, penetration and burning.
Organ gun.

We then rolled up a tower defense, but since I had no towers lying around, we re'rolled got a mountain pass battle instead.
For terrain we had 2 woods, a length of wall, a little house, some khemirian quicksand and a big rock (arcane monolith).

On the deployment, its flaws and the thoughts behind: first of all, putting the troll half a table away from the general was not the best idea. I on the other hand put my organ gun in the mysterious forest, which could have turned out dangerous (luckily for me, it was only a blood wood and all was good) and my bsb did his best to stay away from the front line and the soon to be chaos warrior madness.
The marauder horsemen vanguarded up ahead and the rangers hid 12'' behind the hellcannon.

And for magics he rolled up, lvl 4: flickering fire, pandamonium something, exalted spell and them gate, lvl 1 got spirite leach.
Miners just did what they do best.

I won the roll for turn one, and found that another turn worth of blasting would be nice.
None of my units did any serious moving be just a slight forwards shuffle trying to look eager for combat. Shooting began with the organ gun frying 6 out of 6 marauder horse men (first blood to me), then the thrower put a burning boulder on top of the trolls and instead of 3 stupid brutes he now had 1 crispy crippled brute left. The cannon then put a shell in the warshrine (got 2 marauders on its way) but was stopped by the force shield (first of 4/5 shells / rocks were to be stopped by rolls of 6). The anvil then stuck a wrong note and decided it would be napping until turn 3 (maybe the runelord did not enjoy the fact that his guard for this game had been replaced by a pair of hobbit archers figs, how knows).
And with no combat it was time for some chaos.
He had no charges, but a failed ld-test saw the hell cannon racing to combat with my rangers, meanwhile his infantry moved forwards at full speed and the exalted on disk speed towards the organ gun (and the lone troll fail the first of many leadership tests to come). His magic did nothing as I scrolled the gateway (failed to make him forget the spell though).
In the only combat the cannon ate 2 rangers and the rangers in return murdered its crew and put a wound on the cannon.

My turn 2. No charges and I forgot my miners and the only other movement was the hammerers moving some forwards and with no magic, it was time for some shooting. The organ gun went first and ensured its own survival by sending 10 str. 5 hits towards the guy formerly known as "guy on the disk", cannon tried to kill the shrine but misfired (would be back next turn though) and the stone thrower fell short. The X-bows then killed 1 chosen and the anvil waited.
In the ongoing combat the cannon once again ate 2 rangers, who in return slew the cannon.
He began his turn with the warhounds charging my organ gun, while the infantry moved 8'' forwards (the troll made it d6 forwards again due to stupidity). In his magic phase he got a few extra dice by channeling near the arcane ruins which he used on a gateway I dispelled with all my dice and a 7 str 7 hits flickering fire which fried 5 of my unfortunate warriors.
The combat phase saw 1 crewman killed by angry dogs.

My turn 3, saw the miners showing up behind his warriors and lvl 4 and taking up a position nice and well behind them, the rangers did their best to get back in the game and my infantry moving 1'-2' forwards. Shooting saw on gun falling short of the target and the other was force-fielded away from the shrine. X-bows killed 1 dog and upon such slightly embarrassing show of marksmanship the anvil proceeded to finally do something right and propelled the miners into the rear of the warriors.
The miners lost 2 to the high I warriors but got 4 or 5 in return and won the combat by 5 and I look forwards to his lvl 4, general and bunch of warriors testing on a 3, he then unveiled his raptorous standard and held. wardogs vs. crew was without any kills.
In his turn 3 he moved forwards once again with everything but no charges (did I mention another failed stupidity test) and I his magic phase we saw his lvl 1 miscast a spirit leach on my thane and blow himself up along with two unlucky bystanders (marauders) only to be sucked into the warp or something. Shooting once again saw the shrine buff the marauders but I've forgot what they had and it didn't matter anyways. Combat saw 2 miners die but still breaking the warriors, lousy flee and pursuit rolls led to me being 1 inch short of destroying them. My organ gun crew then went nuts killed 2 dogs and broke the rest.

My turn 4 then saw quite some charging, first of all the miners chased down his warriors, then the warriors and ironbreakers made a combined charge on his marauders and the hammerers decided to show the chosen their flank in an attempt to get out of their way... in the meantime rangers did their best to catch up.
Shooting saw the warhounds destroyed and removed 1-2 chosen and a high roll on and anvil charge saw my hammerers leaving their awkward position (in front of the chosen) to flank the marauders instead.
In the massive midfield combat I lost a handful of dwarfs but he lost combat with a missive 26, and the marauders legged it, warriors and ironbreaker failed to catch them but crashed into the shrine instead. Hammerers restrained hoping to find something else worth killing.
He began his turn 4 with rallying the marauders, moving the chosen 8 ahead and yet again the troll fail its test and stumbled a little forwards.
With no shooting and magic we went straight for combat, where the shrine killed a warrior and I in return put a few wound on the shrine. Due to ranks and flags I won the combat and chased down the shrine with the ironbreakers (who then hit the marauders again) while the warriors stayed put.

Turn 5 for me started with a charges, the rangers went into the rear of the marauders. While the hammerers (who reformed when the marauders ran) marched towards the chosen, hoping to be anvil-accelerated into their backsides. Miners and warriors chilled with nothing to do.
Shooting saw the troll obliterated, I've forgot who actually shot it, but it suffered 4 wounds and only regenerated 1. Then when it came for the anvil to shine, it once again proceeded to fail its 2+ cast and there would be no more anvilling till turn 7...
Combat saw the last marauder properly killed in return for only a few losses.
He began his 5 turn with some chosen action when they charged my stone thrower, which had no choice but to hold, even though we both kinda knew what was going to happen to it. Then in the combat phase, it happened... first dwarf unit down, he overran then, hit the building and proceeded to butcher the quarrelers inside (realized now, that you cannot enter buildings this way) . Where he then stayed as he would rather not face the still intact hammerer unit just behind him (at least not on the open field facing another direction).

Turn 6..
With no great wish of sending my hammerers into the building (10 hammerers vs. 9 chosen and a exalted), we went straight to shooting we I among the cannon and Organ gun managed 16 str. 5 hit and killed (I guess) 7 chosen just to make a point, and since you can't charge out of buildings that was pretty much it.

In the end I had lost Stone thrower and quarrelers (around 300p) while he had 550 points left, and with a dead general and a couple of banners in my hand I won with about 2100 points which according to new rules is a crushing victory. Which is also rather fittig, as he in our last game crushed my dwarfs with a thirster DoC army...
