The Battle:

Durin surveyed the battle field, the crossbows had taken up residence in the house on the right flank, half to gain the shooting advantage, half to calm down the family within, the house across the valley had already been ransacked by the ogre party, the dwarfs had arrived to late to stop them. Durin hated fighting ogres, not because they stood over three times his height, or that a solid punch from them could dent armour, but more cause of the smell of the lot of them, by Grungni's beard the smell was worse than the cattle market before the dung collectors had collected their wares. As always he was accompanied by his personal retinue of ironbreakers, he always prefered the sturdy gromril clad dwarfs compared to the more favoured hammerer regiments of other dwarfen thanes. His second cousin on his father's side was holding Durins banner aloft in the regiment of clansmen who work the mines in these parts and were the first to raise the alarm. Between them stood the settlements organ gun, being close to the borders and near the head of a pass it was vital that the locals had some basic artillary. The longbeards were stationed on the right of the warriors grumbling about being put near such inexperinced troops and that these ogres were considerably "puny" compared to the ones they fought over 20ft high with the strength of giants.

"Valaya for the sake of my nostrals turn the wind, the stench is making my stomach turn." spoke Durin to the wind in a hope of repreve. A roar or it could have been a belch from the other end of the settlement focused Durin's attentions, the ogre line had started moving in that odd have trot half bounce that ogres seemed to move in, must be the flab the only the bustiest women in the dwarfen holds bounced anywhere near to that, and that was only limited to one portion of their body rather than the whole thing. The centre line was made of bulls on his left and ironguts on his right, with those cannon weilding man-ogres on the flanks, and also what was that? Durin gritted his teeth, Gnoblars, he spat, vile little greenskin pests, he'd like to tread some of those underhis boots, but they were on the far right, so someone else would get that privaliage.

"Advance to the wall!!" Durin called, his ironbreakers following the command marched up to the short stone wall of the settlement and prepared themselves to defend it, the other regiments not haing the same cove marched forward, locking shields read for the initial charge of the ogres, the organ gun poured out lead shots at the leadbelchers and one was felled wwhen the smoked cleared, , the crossbows too unleased hell upon the gnoblars dropping 5 of the small horde. If they held from that they'd have the battle won, the plan was soon put to the test as the ogres bounded down upon them rolls of flubbers bouncing somewhat hypnotically as they charged full pelt into the dwarf front line. The ironguts smashed into the warrior shields their mystical banner making their weapons seem to find their mark and cut deeper, while Durin had taken a calculated risk and as well as taking the frontal charge of the bulls, who smashed their toes and shins against the stone walls but had exposed his unit to a flank charge by the leadbelchers.....well better to get these guys incombat than have them running around taking pot shots at you. Combat waged fast and furious and the dwarfen line held firm, Durin could hear the leadbelchers pound out some shots at the grizzled veterans dropping two, but leaving them undeterred and all the more grumpy. So grumpy in fact that seeing an oppertunity they charged grudges pouring from their mouths into the flank of the ironguts, aiding the warriors in the whittling. Durin risked a glance and saw his cousin dispite carrying the standard ducking and weaving and hacking at te ogres cutting them down with bone shattering axe strokes.

A more pungent aroma hit Durins nostrals as the Ogre general bellowed out a challange, dispite this ogres size (and smell) he took up his axe and ducking out of the way of the surprisingly keen ogre blade, and offering a quick prayer to Grimnir for his divine intervention of stopping a blow against him, Durin smashed the knee cap of the Ogre general. Still the battle waxed on fighting hard, still Durin ducked and dodged thanking grimnir each time his belt glowed with the runic power within stopping otherwise metal shearing blows, ducking beneath the ogres legs Durin rose up behind the Bruiser and sunk his axe deep into the creatures back, it screamed and Durin renched it out. By now he ironbreakers had cut down at least 3 of the buls and 2 of the flanking leadbelchers, and the warriors with flanking ironbreakers had culled all but two ironguts and their battle standard. Seeing their leader scream in pain blood pouring from a number of cuts and a badly smashed knee the ogre line broke, the organ gun had cut down another of the remaining two lead belchers on the right, and more gnoblars fell under the bolts of the crossbows.

Durin led the sprint of the ironbreakers felling the remaining bulls and their leader, while the warriors and longbeards cut down the straggling ironguts. The leadbelchers ran off in all directions and the gnoblars hid in whatever crevise they could find. Upon returning from the pursuit, the dwarfs set to work buring dead, burning and making tallow from the ogres, and healing survivors. Scout parties were sent out to hunt down the remaining ogres who had feld, and a feast was made for the dwarfs by the settlement workers, it wasn't the grand feasts they were used to but for what these people could afford, it was grand indeed.

Ogres quit end of turn 4, Major win to dwarfs. Soz for any spelling errors, at work so can't check and written in a rush.
