My first batrep and first time using battle chronicler so mind any mistakes you see as i was still trying to get used to the program.

DEPLOYMENT

we rolled battle for the pass for a scenario which having lots of warmachines neither of us minded, there was a small question about if my miners could enter from ANY board edge but we agreed that since they were tunneling the cliff sides of the board were just more stone and they could enter through them.
The "pool of blood" is actually a sinister statue i just couldn't find a better tile to represent it. his heros (warrior preist, wizard and general) were all on horse and inside the cav unit his bsb was with the swordsmen
Once i saw how he was deploying and being relatively sure that empire didn't have scouts i took a chance putting my rangers behind his ranks going warmachine hunting. This I realize now was likely a bad decision because it means i didn't have that block to protect myself later on but i'll get to that later.

EMPIRE TURN 1

His Cav moved forward to prepare for a charge on my weak left flank but when we rolled for the forest it turned out it was Fungus forest making his deathstar cav unit subject to stupidity as well as the normal dangerous terrain test, of which he passed all. Swordmen and flaggulents advanced the Careful to stay out of range of the sinister statue (6")His shooting was up and down, his cannon misfired and blew up (silly umgi made cannons) his rocket battery on the otherhand scored a direct hit on my warrior horde killing 21!!! the match was looking like it was going to be an uphill battle for me as my unit had already been crippled and now i was outnumbered by the flag unit that i normally wouldn't have feared.

DWARF TURN 1

Warriors advanced forward hoping that i could hold his large unbreakable unit in range of the sinister statue for a few turns so that it would hit him a few times to even the odds, rangers advanced and threw their axes at the rocket battery having failed their charge killing 1 crew member, gyro swung around out of sight to harrass the flags. my thunderers and bolt thrower made short work of 7 of his knights and my brudge thrower and cannon and gyro (barely hitting on the edge of the tempplate killed 12 flagulents hoping to even the odds) i w&r'd his knights meaning that it was movement halved hoping to prevent his movement for another turn and whittle him down before he got to me.

EMPIRE TURN 2

Cav passes his stupidity on the 2nd roll from his bsb but he advances only slightly forward hoping to setup a charge that he would be more likly to make. swordsman came forward to assist on the weak flank, mortar and rocket battery both scattered wide and his crossbowman scoring 2 hits on my thunderer unit bringing them down to 8.

DWARF TURN 2

rangers charge the rocket battery and destroy it overrunning about 7 inches, the warriors fail their charge against the flaggulents moving forward and grummbling about the quality of the shoddy men and their "I swear too much" soaked rags. gyro flies over the forest to make a much better shot at them killing 9 and 2 more dying from the sinister statue. bolt thrower hits the cav and kills 2 along with 2 kills from my crippled thunderer unit and one from a cannon. my grudge thrower scattered wide of both the horsemen and swordsmen but my full unit of thunderers shoots them for 3 wounds. his horsemen are once again at half movement from a hit from the anvil

EMPIRE TURN 3

flaggulents charge my warriors and kill more then a few with return attacks from the warriors but they hold to fight another round. horsemen fail their charge after passing another stupidity but no wounds on the S&S the mortar once again scatters wide (luckily) and a wound is taken on my rangers, saving the other 5 thanks their 5+ ward against missle fire.

DWARF TURN 3

Charge on the mortar! which is destroyed and i turn to destroy the crossbowmans rear, The gyro gets a nice flank shot on the weaker crossbow unit killing 7 but they pass their panic. Shots on the horsemen kill 4 and shots on the swordsmen kill 5, however my cannon misfires and can't shoot this turn and my grudgethrower misses wide even after both re-rolls (luck is not my friend today) The warriors manage to hold one more turn with only a few left but they make the flaggulents pay dearly for their lost kin!
My miners come in this turn to the flank of the horsemen though they seem to have disappeared in my image.

EMPIRE TURN 4

the horsemen Charge my weakened thunderers and on the overrunscore only a 2 moving slightly pass them, the flaggulents pursue my broken warriors and catch them (and my bsb in the process) and advance towards the center of my backfield. both crossbow units turn to face their aggressors but cant shoot this turn

DWARF TURN 4

My miners charge the horseman in the rear to prevent them moving forward, I didn't expect to win combat but i did manage to kill 2 horseman despite the heros making way to the rear. Thunderers continue to whittle down the swordsmen. Rangers charge the crossbowmen and chrush them in combat taking no wounds from the s&s and my gyro gets another shot cleaning up the 2nd unit of crossbowmen.

EMPIRE TURN 5

swordsmen charge my miners in the rear and my opponent forgets to reform so i still have his horsemen from behind, flaggulents charge and destroy my cannon and he loses a few wounds from martydom (i guess he really wanted it gone) 2 wounds on his warrior preist with my miners to stop him from healing his general who due to a cannon shot was at 1 wound for most of the game. MY gyrocopter was posistioned poorly and take a shot from the sinister statue killing it, stupid on my part as i this could've been easily prevented.

DWARF TURN 5

My miners are destroyed and my thunderers turn to face so that i could maybe get some s&s wounds on whoever charges me as his flaggulents, 3 strong by this point, charge my anvil who holds and kills them.

EMPIRE TURN 6

His horsemen unit in an attempt to get some quick vp charges my bolt thrower and then... Whiffs all his rolls killing only 1 crewmember his swordmen decide to leave my thunderers alone to fight my rangers.

DWARF TURN 6

My rangers charge his swordsmen trying to clean up what i can for vp, they are destroyed in CC meaning i can claim them to myself, another round of total whiffing on the horsemen mean my BT survives combat and lives to shoot again!!

WRAPUP

After all this... i lost. by 200 vp. with 3 heros and 20 horsemen his cav unit was almost half his total army, despite cleaning up everything else he had claimed too many points from my army and i lost my the tip of my beard, we agreed that it was a hell of a game and a re-match is in the process of being scheduled.
