From the Halls of Karak Baldour, High Rune Lord Karak-al-Karak has reported in.

Skrit the foul one (Skaven, Warlord) was spotted marching in the nearby landscape. The Dwarven High King of Karak Baldour, Karak - GreyLongBeard was busy and did not have time to engage. However, the High Rune Lord, Karak-al-Karak had a grudge written in his book and so had to be dispatched to remedy the grudge. Eager to dispel this grudge he marched his troops across the waste Dwarven Landscape.

Rune Lord Karak-al-Karak
Master Rune Spite, Master Rune Breaking, Rune of Stone, Rune of preservation, Gromril Armor, shield, Master Rune of Steel, Grudge Rune (Skrit the foul one).

Rune Priest Karak - BrownBeard

10x Quarrelers - w/shields, command

1x - Grudge Thrower, 2 runes of pen, 1 rune of accuracy

1x - Cannon, Engineer, Rune of Forging, Rune of Burning

1x - Organ Gun

On this day, the multitude of numbers seemed to be the course of action. Meaning that banners, the generals, and bsb's were of the most importance. Both sides were looking to numbers and leadership (Mission Fortitude) for resolve.

Turn 1 - The Skaven vermin were anxious and eager to fight. The Dwarven Command under High Rune Lord Karak-al-Karak would see to it to gain the initiative this day. Karak-al-Karak spied the enemy only but 18" away and surveying the landscape. He ordered the warriors who flanked the Long Beards to take up their positions to "HOLD the LINE"!

Seeing the enemy with a wheel with lightning sparks, a hideous foul beast with grotesque features, a Cannon that shot lightning, and a grey seer on top of a big bell, even giant rat-ogres, storm vermin, plague monks, night runners, Censor Bearers, slaves in shackles.. Ah, what a glorious victory this will be.

Grudge Thrower, shot at Storm Vermin 25 strong. DIRECT HIT - 15 dead storm Vermin!

Fire the CANNON - misfire, rune of fortitude (edit: Rune of Forging not Fortitude) re-roll, misfire again, roll on chart, dud no shot this turn.

Orgun Gun - shoots at Censor Bearers rolls a 2, rerolls a misfire.. no shot.

Quarrelers shoot at Abomination - scores 2 wounds but regenerated both.

Skaven Turn 1 - moves up.. Casts with IF Withering on one unit of Dwarf Warriors. They are now T3 for rest of game. Miscast blew up 4 or 5 clanrats pushing the bell. Bell Rings and does 1 wound to OG, 2 wounds to cannon, 2 wounds to Grudge Thrower. Lightning Cannon shoots and kills 10 long beards.

Dwarf Turn 2 - Reforms Dwarf Warriors on the left to allow the Cannon another try to rid the field of the monstrosity of what is the Abomination. Dwarf Warriors on the right charge the Rat Ogres in 3x2 formation w/packmasters behind them.

Cannon shoots - SUCCESS, abom hit, wounded, 4 wounds

Quarrelers - hit and wound 2 on abom.. Dead abom.... or is it.. comes back with skaven rat packs.

Grudge Thrower - targets plague monksx25 strong, direct HIT, 15 dead plague monks

Orgun Gun targets Censor bearers and kills 3 of 5.

Combat vs. Rat Ogres is a draw.

Turn 2 Skaven - Charges abound. Bell is in with left side DW. Plague monks, Censor bearers are in combat with Dwarf Warriors w/ Rune Priest on right side that is also in front combat with RAt Ogres. Rats win this combat but steadfast and HOLDS!
Skaven unable to cast the 13th Spell with a power scroll rolled a 6,5,4,3.. Magic is done.

Turn 3 Dwarves - The grudge between High Dwarf Rune Lord and Skrit has come to fruition. The fell blade was for not this day, Rune Lord with Master Rune of breaking HITS and the fell blade is now just a mundane weapon. Combat is stagnant against the bell. Dwarves on the right are losing but holding. Dwarves in General are holding but not Gaining much ground.

Skaven Turn 3 -
Doom Wheel advances on the left flank now in position to charge the hill with warmachines. Night Runners in front of the Doom Wheel. Doom Wheel zaps uncontrollably 3 Night Runners who make their panic test. The new Swarms charge the Quarrelers who in turn stand and shoot with 4 wounds !. Quarrelers kill all but 2 or 3 wounds of rat swarms. The challenge with Skrit leaves a mark on him via the Rune Lord!

Dwarves Turn 4 - Long Beards finally able to charge into the frey.. The RatOgres, Censor Bearers, Slaves, Plague Monks, Long Beards, and Dwarf Warriors are in one massive melee! The Censor Bearers kill themselves (box cars!)! The Rats on this front lose by 6 and without any significant ranks all scurry away. (One fortitude point gained, two more for VICTORY.. Dwarves 1-0 Skaven).

The Dwarf Warriors with the challenge lose and break. They are caught! The Dwarves disheartened carry on as the BSB is nearby swaying them forth. They have not lost their motivation yet!
Rat Swarms against shooters are killed.
(Dwarves 1-3 Skaven).

Warmachines - are ineffective but do a little damage to Storm Vermin (2 models left now), and night runners (3 models left).

Skaven Turn 4 - Rat Swarms are killed, Doom Wheel charges Quarrelers.. Quarrelers do one wound with stand and shoot. Doom Wheel wiffs on all attacks including a 1 on impact hits. Doom Wheel stands with STubborn on 7. Bell unit reforms to engage Long Beards.

Dwarves Turn 5 - Wow, this the Turn that the Dwarves pull it off.
Quarrelers STAND against Doom Wheel again. Long Beards kill to the man the Storm Vermin. Dwarves 2-3 Skaven.
Warmachines kill all of the bells unit except characters.. no more standard..
Dwarves 3 - Skaven 3. Skaven Breaking POINT REACHED! Dwarves WIN! Because the Quarrelers HELD the DWARVES WIN!

Dwarves got 3 the magic number for them. Skaven needed one more Fortitude but couldn't pull it off.

Despite being broken - High Rune Lord Karak-al-Karak was able to scratch one grudge from his book but added another. Skrit the Foul One was dealt one wound by Karak-al-Karak and thus the challenge was unfinished! His Warriors and forces WON this day and the report the HIGH King is glorious.

End of Game Break Down.

Skaven had ~~3 banners~~, general (counts as 2), bsb(counts a 1) for a total of 6 Fortitude points available. 3 were scored.

Dwarves had 3 banners, ~~1 banner~~, ~~general (counts as 2)~~, bsb (counts as 1)
for a total of 7 available. 3 were scored.

To Win, you need to have half OR more of the enemy fortitude points.
Skaven had 3 of 7 (less than half).
Dwaves had 3 of 6 (exactly half).

Quarrelers for the WIN!

A very very very close game with the Quarrelers hanging the game in the balance for 2 or 3 turns. Hand Weapon, Shield for them were the difference.

Master Rune of Grungi helped to save multiple wounds from Warp Lightning Cannon.
Clutch play of the game was Dwarven Cannon hitting and wounding the Abom with 4 wounds then the Quarrelers (AGAIN) doing 2 additonal wounds that phase to kill it!

Book of Grudges held by High Rune Lord, Karak-al-Karak
