Hi brothers!

Yesterday I fought my first match against new O&G and today I decide to celebrate the event posting my first battlereport here in the brewery.

For this match I tried to use a list strongly inspired by the one used by Furgil (adapted for a 2200 pts game). I never used 3 hordes before (usually I play with just 1 horde of 40 rangers) and I was curious to see them in action.

English is not my first language, so sorry for all mistakes you can find!

Dwarf List:

Thane (BSB): MRune Of Spite, MRune Of Gromril
Runelord (General): Shield, Rune Of Stone, Rune Of Resistance, Rune of Immunity / MRune Of Balance, 2xRune Of Spellbreaking
39xWarrior, GW, Standard, Mu
40xWarrior, GW, Standard, Mu
37xHammerers, Standard (MRune Of Grungni), Mu (characters goes here)
Grudgethrower Rune of Accuracy, 2x Rune of Penetrating, Engineer
Cannon Rune of Forging, Rune Of Fire
Organ Gun

O&G List (I don’t know the correct translation for all the items):

Savage Orc Lord: Potion of Strength, Sword with +3 Attacks, Warpaint
Liv. 4 Savage Orc Shaman: Item which improves warpaint save in 5+, Blades of WS 10
38 Savage Orcs Big’Uns St + Mu
40 Black orcs, St (Standard of Battle) + Mu
50 Goblins With Spears + St
1 Arachnarok
40 Squig Herd (30 squigs +10 goblin)

Deployment

After rolling for terrains and buildings we put in play: river, Blood Tower, some walls, Mage (maybe wizard ?) tower, and a couple of buildings.
Squigs start in the river (we roll on the table and pic a Necrotic Ooze!), Orc Lord (black Square in the picture) and Orc Shaman (brown square) are in the Savage Orcs Big’Uns.
I put Runelord (Red square) and BSB (blue square) in the Hammerers. I got the first turn.

Deployment:

Turn 1

Dwarf:
I just make some minor movement with my warriors and hammerers.
In the shooting phase the grudge thrower put a direct shot in the middle of Savage Orcs but only 4 greenskins die. The cannon inflicts 4 wound at the arachnarok. OG out of range.

O&G:
Everything advance, the squig herd take 7 wound (5 squigs and 2 goblins) from dangerous terrain test. Magic phase completely shut down (a constant in the whole game!).

End of turn 1;

Turn 2

Dwarf:
Others minor movement for my troops. In my shooting phase I try to concentrate fire on Black Orcs (worried for my right flank warriors) but failing miserably: the OG misfire on the first roll (at least obtaining a "Fzzz clunk"), Grudge Trower put a stone in the space and cannon roll a “wonderful” 1 to wound the arachnarok. Well done!

Orcs:
Everything advance (except goblins who fail animosity test and out of charge range). Goblins on the arachnarok shoot on warriors with no consequences. Squigs march forward and take some losses from dangerous terrain test. Magic phase uneventful.

End of turn 2:

Turn 3

Dwarf:
Things don’t look so good. The 2 block of orc infantry are still huge, and my hopes are in the next shooting phase. In my movement I advanced with hammerers (to avoid a double charge on my right warriors). My Right warriors advance and put themselves in contact with the wall. Left warriors ready to receive Arachnarok.

In the shooting phase, still worried for my right warriors, I tried again to soften the Black Orcs unit. My OG roll a “2” on the first dice and then another wonderful “2” for one dead black orc. Grudge thrower put another rock in the deep space and cannon double misfire (out of game in the next turn). Wonderful!

Situation after dwarf turn 3:

O&G:
Orc lord declare a WAAAAAHG!, black orcs charge right warriors, savage orcs charge hammerers and arachnarok charge my left warriors.
My left warriors chase down the Spider taking 9 casualties in return.

On the right side, my other warrior unit take 9 wounds from black orcs (Valaya bless the wall!), and in an unexpected exploit killed 14 Black orcs in return. Black orcs flee 12” away, I restrain and reform to face the flank of savages.

Meanwhile in the centre of battlefield, savages kill 14 hammerers (47 Strength 5 attacks!) for 9 losses in return. The Orc lord kill my BSB in a challenge (damned potion of strength!). A storm of pain but hammerers held.

Situation after O&G movement and charges:

After combat:

Turn 4

Dwarf:
My left warriors prepare themselves to receive a charge from the squig, my other warriors charge the flank of savages. In the shooting phase my cannon does nothing (out of the game for this turn), grudge trower put a direct shot on goblins (15 smashed greenskins but they pass their Ld 5 panic test). OG have no LoS on the left side of battlefield and Black Orcs are over 24”.

The main combat saw again a lot of hammerers and savages die. Warriors put 2 wounds on the shaman but I loose combat by 1. Both my unit held. Runelord and Orc Lord begin an endless challenge.

After dwarf turn:

O&G:
Black orcs rally (too far from everything and they remain out for the rest of the game). Goblins and squigs charge my warriors. In the fight I loose 11 dwarfs and kill 4 goblin and 6 squigs, my warriors broke and fled 9” away. Goblins try to catch them but fail for 1”! Squig restrain and reform to face my GT.

After O&G movement and charges:

After HTH combat:

Final Turns summary
I saw my unit of hammerers completely destroyed and the 15 savage orcs survivors locked in combat with warriors (in 5 round I never won combat and always lose by a margin of 1 or 2. My warriors / hammerers never fled but savages never loose fury the whole game). I killed his Liv. 4 mage, my others warriors unit rallied and then killed his goblins, OG killed some squigs / goblins with a couple of shots. On the bad side the squigs destroyed my GT.

Runelord and Savage Orc Lord are still fighting their challenge…

Result:
I loose GT, BSB in a challenge and Hammerers. I killed a unit of Goblin, Arachnarok and a Liv 4 Mage for a final result of a 200 pts loss for the dwarf (and a new entry in my book of grudges).

Final Thoughts
I’m surprise by the performance of Savage orcs, locked in combat with 1 horde of hammerers and another horde of GW warriors in the flank never loose combat!

My entire artillery park was quite useless, very small damages for an investment of over 400 pts!

Runelord is the "hero of the day", shut down magic and locked Orc lord in a challenge (but only after the sacrifice of BSB killed with the help of the potion of strength) preserving hammerers for some time.

Hope you enjoy the reading! :guinesssmilie:
