INTRODUCTION

Usually I play with a more "standard" approach (artillery bombardment, wait and then axe work). This time I made an anvil list for fun and surprise my opponent with a complete different approach to the battle.

Magic was quite uneventful for the whole battle, so I never mentioned it in the battle report and I never used ancient power with anvil.

DEPLOYMENT

DWARFS (Left to Right) : Cannnon, Anvil of Doom, Great Weapon Warriors in the Corner, Long Beard Rangers between swamp and river

O&G (Left to Right) : Doom Diver in the corner, Squig Mangler #1, Squig Mangler #2, Lv2 Night Goblin Shaman, Snotling Pump Wagon, "Little" Squig Herd,Snotling Pump Wagon, Big Squig Herd, Orcs With Bow (with General), Goblin (with BSB + Lv4 night goblin shaman), goblin chariots, Wolf Riders

TURN 1 - DWARFS

Long Beard Rangers moved a little toward the orcs (trying to remain within 6" from the Altar of Khaine)

runelord with rune of wrath and ruin killed 1 squig mangler (doom diver crew panicked and ran off the table, Lv 2 Shaman also panicked but stopped quite before the table edge

Cannon reduced 2 goblin chariots to ashes

TURN 1 O&G

Squig Mangler and both Snotling Pump Wagons move forward.
Lv2 Shaman fled off tha table.
Thane in Long Beard use MR of Challenge on Orcs With Bows.

The lone wolf chariot connected a charge against Long Beard Rangers.
Orcs with bows charged but rolled a 4" and failed to reach the dwarfs.

Goblin unit moved little forward toward my rangers.

In combat Long Beard Rangers destroyed the chariot for 3 losses in return.
Doom Diver killed 3 Great Weapon Warriors.

TURN 2 - DWARFS

No miners show up!

Long Beard declared a charge against Orcs With Bows. Rolled an amazing 2 (charge failed). Stand & Shoot killed 2 long beard rangers

Cannon killed the second Squig Mangler.

With anvil of doom I declared a second charge with my long beard rangers toward the orcs. I loose another 2 long beards from stand & shot but this time (finally!) I didn't fail the charge. Hand to hand combat was brutal, I loose 6 rangers but killed 17 orcs in return. His goblin warboss issued a challenge and I accepted with my thane (no wounds from both sides). Orcs loose but hold thanks to the crown of command.

TURN 2 - O&G

Both snotling pump wagon move forward (1 died in the forest due to a failed diffult terrain test)

Lv4 Shaman and BSB leave goblin unit. Goblin unit move forward triyng to outflank longbeards.

Squig Herds move toward Great Weapon warriors. Wolf riders move toward GWW.

Doom Diver Killed 2 Great Weapon Warriors.

Another brutal HTH combat saw orcs kill 4 longbeards who killed 12 in return. Orcs hold. Challenge still on with no wounds from both sides.

TURN 3 - DWARFS

Both miners unit appear!

Great Weapon warriors charged snotling pump wagon, they managed to destroy it but 2 warriors died. GWW reformed to face squig herd.

Cannon killed some squigs and herders.

Long beards killed all the orcs loosing another 2 of their numbers for the effort. Goblin warboss holds and challenge goes on with no wounds from both sides.

Long beard reformed into a deeper formation.

Due to Anvil of Dooom miners charged the big squig herd in the flank. Miners managed to win combat, squig herd failed a Ld test then exploded (killing 7 miners, 7 longberds and 5 wolf riders in the process).

With all the main infantry block destroyed O&G player conceded!!!!

Victory to the dwarfs!!!

Hope you enjoy the reading. :beer1:
