[background=transparent]Blood in the Sun is a 2.4k point, two-day, five round fantasy tournament held the past two summers around suburban Chicago. It’s designed to be a fun, but competitive gathering of a lot of warhammer personalities from the the midwest. Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan were all well represented. Ohiohammer, Garagehammer, The Detroit Warhammer Club, and Point Hammered well represented. [/background]

[background=transparent]This was my first fantasy tournament, so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. I don’t consider myself a great warhammer player or painter, so had I fairly low expectations for myself. The loftiest goal I set for myself was to not make any major mistakes, and try to enjoy myself. [/background]

[background=transparent]Tournaments in the midwest tend to follow a similar set of restrictions and rules. Lists are usually closed, special characters are often not allowed, and painting / comp / sports is usually about ½ with battle being another half. I was hoping to have the best looking dwarf army at the tournament, but that was dashed quickly by the single other dwarf player who had a magnificent dwarf army complete with beautifully painted dragons. His army went on to win “best themed,”[/background]
[background=transparent]and I really can’t complain too much.[/background]

[background=transparent]I went with a pretty standard, now well known “Three hordes and a cloud of smoke” aka Furgil build as follows:[/background]
