I was able to bring out the new dwarfs in a quick 1500pt battle and I thought I’d share it with you. I do not remember 100% of it, and this is my very first battle report, so let’s hope I do well. This is my first batrep, so bare with me...and comments in making it better would help as well.

12x Knightly Orders Inner Circle (Full Command, Lance)
3x Demigryph Knights(Full Command)
2x Great Cannons

Here we go!
Deployment:
My opponent deployed both his cannons in ether corner and all 3 combat block in the middle. Inner Circle Knights, Knightly Orders, and Demigryph Knights from left to right.
I deploy relatively the same, luckily for me, I had a wall of forests protecting myself. I set up my gyro in front of his fist cannon, then quarrellers, organ gun on a hill , longbeards facing his knights, hammers facing his demigryphs, quarrellers and finally my cannon.

Turn 1:
I got turn one, and pretty much wasted it. My Gryo marched up the field as close to his cannon as I could. Both my quarrellers took pot shots at both at his knights and did nothing (that 2+ save hurts). My war machines whiffed as well, even with the re-roll my organ gun got 2 hits against his cannon and missed both. My cannon faired a bit better and hit his other cannon but only resulted in 1 wound.

My opponent fared much better, he moved up his two knights slowly and marched up his demi-knights. He buffed up his units with life magic, but without being in combat it didn’t do much. Both of his cannons knocked of my organ gun, and my cannon.

Turn 2:
I charged my gyro into his cannon and did 2 wounds; he failed his leadership and ran off the board. Without my artillery I had to push my block forward. I moved both my quarrellers and combat block ups, giving him a choice to what he wants to charge. Dispelled his buffs and ended my turn.

My opponent took the bait and charged his demi-knights into my right flank quarrellers and I elected to run. He ran me down and killed my bow=men, luckily for me he exposed his flank to my hammerers. He was playing cautious with his knights and only moved them forward slowly. I had a very hard time with dispelling, the 2+ isn’t good enough when facing a lvl4 mage. He got both Throne of Vines and Awaken the Woods off and killed a few of my longbeards. His remaining cannon misfired and couldn’t fire it for 2 turns.

Turn 3:
I charge his demi-knights with my hammers and he elected to run towards the right board edge, I pursued and rolled 1/2” shorter than his roll. I moved my longbeards in front of the woods to discourage a charge. My quarrellers shuffled around to protect the longbeards flank. My gryo took a pot-shot at some knights only killing one.

His demi-knights failed there leadership and rolled a triple one for his run distance saving himself from running off the board. Afraid of the forest my opponent still didn’t charge into my longbeards. He elected to take some magic pot-shots and again got off Awaking the woods killing a few longbeards.

Turn 4:
I run down the demi-knights which essentially take my hammerers out of the game. Gyro take another pot shot killed a whopping 4 knights which ends my turn.

Finally, my opponent decided to charge but elected to charge with both his knights and my longbeards get the full brunt of the attack. With his lances he take out roughly 8 longbeards(leaving me with about 14). I hit back with my breath weapon and only do 1 wound….out of 8…it sucked. My longbeards kill another 2 knights. I lose combat, but due to stubborn I fight another day.

Turn 5:
I charge my quarrellers into his flanked needing a 6, but roll a 3. Luckily, my gryo made its charge right into the knight’s rear. My hammerers failed there swift reform and waddle backwards just for something to do. Without my opponents lances he only manages to kill 2 longbeards, and I hit back with my gryo and longbeards to kill 4 knights. I win combat and he fails leadership with one block twice, but the other makes it and remains. I run down his knights with my gyrocopter.

The long grind against the longbeards continue, he kills some of my longbeards, I kill some of his knights and we equal combat. I am sitting on my last row of longbeards

Turn 6:
My gyro, unable to turn around and do another back-charge makes a huge 22” charge towards his other cannon killing it. I get my quarrellers charge into the knights and with strength 4 do only 1 wound. My longbeards do not any better and whiff all of their attacks. The knights kill all but my champion and rune smith and I break from combat. The quarrellers remain in combat and with my hammerers slowly making their way closer and closer he decides to call the game.

Final Tally and thoughts:
After tallying up the points it ended up a huge victory for the dwarfs. I killed 815pts, where he only took off 435pts. I realized several things during this game…

Longbeards are a fantastic anvil unit, especially with their stubborn banner. The knights did some damage on their first turn, but very little after that the 4+/6++ is very resilient.
Gyrocopters are well worth there points, I tripled the amount of points I payed for it. I will definitely be bringing more.
I think I will be bringing Thunderers over quarralers, the armour piercing will very much help with widling down those high armour save units.
I should really remember the army wide rules, I totally forgot about the armour piercing Runesmith rule and that would of helped ALOT

Overall, very fun game and looking forward to playing more games with the dwarfs. Next time, i will try to take some pictures and make the batrep more fun.
