I read up on the Slayer Kings fluff and decided that I liked him enough to start an army based on him. I don't plan on doing any tournaments, but at the same time I don't want to get wrecked every game either, so any ways to refine these lists would be appreciated.

1st List:

Lord:

Ungrim Ironfist - XXX Points

Heroes:

Thane [BSB] - Master Rune of Grungni, Rune of Stoicism, Strollaz Rune - 220 Points

Runesmith - Master Rune of Balance, Rune of Spellbreaking - 135 Points

Dragon Slayer - Master Rune of Flight, Rune of Cleaving - 110 Points

Core:

Dwarf Warriors x30 - Great Weapons, Full Command - 330 Points

Quarrlers x10 - Great Weapons, Full Command - 170 Points

Special:

Slayers x25 - Standard Bearer, Musician, Master Rune of Valaya, Strollaz Rune - 420 Points

Cannon - XXX Points

Rare:

Organ Gun - Rune of Accuracy - 145 Points

Comments: The main point of this list is to engage in combat quickly with the Strollaz Runes. I brought the Master Rune of Valaya to assist in Magic defense since I only have one dispel scroll. The Master Rune of Grungni is to help keep the Slayers alive till they get stuck in. The dragon slayer is mostly just there because I like the model, though I'm thinking about replacing him with an Engineer because BS 4 +1 to hit on an Organ Gun is amazing.

The cannon is mostly there to provide anti-monster defense. I know that Slayers are good at killing monsters, but having stunty dwarfs get into CC with a flying Chimera isn't always easy. The Organ gun is brought mostly to provide support on the two big blocks, kill anything that might try to flank them and generally just be intimidating.

Quarrelers are there to provide anti-chaff, the only reason they have full command is because I needed to hit my core % cap.

I was planning on running the Slayers 7 wide for the most part, though I'm not really sure how viable Slayers are, they look pretty cool and seem like they would be fun to use.

My biggest worries about this list would be the lack of flanking units. I have two big blocks, but they very well could get wrecked without support.

2nd List Changes [Unless otherwise stated, the list stays the same]

Replace Warriors and Quarrelers with 30 Great Weapon Longbeards, Full Command and two Runes of Slowness on the banner. - Still exactly 500 Points.

Drop the Cannon and Organ Gun. Replace with two units of 5 Rangers and a Gyrobomber. - Same Point Cost

Comments:

The Longbeards would be better in close combat, yes they aren't as strong as Hammerers, but I'm using Slayers as my Special choice and the extra Str and WS are pretty good. Also, since I'll be Vanguarding forward, making an opponent fail a charge would be really good with Str. 7 attacks on the charge.

The Rangers would be able to keep up with the army and the Great Weapons would hopefully help them occasionally get in a decent flank charge, also they can hopefully go Warmachine hunting. What would you shoot? The unit of almost 30 Slayers baring down at you or the 5 Rangers next to your Warmachine? Either way I think I'm well off. (Especially with the 5++ Ward)

The Gyrobomber would be there to have a quick unit that could go chaff hunting/Warmachine hunting if I get desperate. I'm thinking about replacing this with a unit of Miners to be honest.

Sorry, that was a pretty long post. Could anybody help me out with this list? I'm trying to keep from spending too much money (The only models I don't have that I mentioned are the Gyrobomber, the 25 Slayers, the Dragon Slayer and the Miners) but at the same time I don't want to get wrecked. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
