I’ve been collecting dwarves since the late 1980s, so I have amassed a big collection over the years. I’m an addicted collector first, painter second and a gamer third! Only about 5% of this is actually painted but I work all the time to change that…when not collecting. I’ve never done this before but with the new dwarf book out I thought it would be interesting to put a point value on the whole collection.

The Crusade of King Thorgrim Grudgebearer

As all good dwarves know, the current High King of the dwarfs is unlike many of his predecessors for his fixation on thinning the Book of Grudges, reconquering Karaz Ankor and his openness to new ideas on how to do it. The year was 7055, when an event occurred which would shake the world with the stomp of dwarven feet and the clank of dwarven arms. On that year, dwarven imperial forces sent a special expeditionary force to Karak Varn on rumors that something incredible had been found. Sure enough, a secret chamber sealed against intrusion during the last days of this hold was uncovered, and after consultation with Thorek Ironbrow it was opened to reveal more than a hundred runic weapons of never before seen worksmanship and runic magic. Not only that, but the back of the chamber was the beginning of a lode of gromril ore the purity of which had never been seen or heard of before. After a year of frantic mining the dwarves had on their hands more gromril than they had over the last 500 years.

Once this incomparable treasure was secure at Karaz-A-Karak, Thorgrim brooded upon this fortuitous event. Most dwarves would no doubt horde this loot with the greed that they are well known for, but the High King interpreted it as a sign from their gods, a boon to urge them to action. For years Thorgrim dreamed about what it would take to gather dwarves from every corner of the Old World in order to realize this dreams of reconquest. THIS was his opportunity. Rather than horde it, he would distribute it to all dwarfs who would heed his call and join him on a march of war the likes of which had not been seen since the War of Vengeance.

High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer sent out his call, and sure enough dwarves from every corner of the world came to join the Royal Crusade. Even dwarves from the Norse holds came! It was determined that their first target would be none other than Karak Varn for the rest of its treasures and due to its secure location compared to other lost holds. In 7060 the Royal Crusade marched from Karaz-A-Karak for Karak Varn intent on reqconquering this hold, clearing the area from the Black Mountains to Zhufbar and installing a new king. This is that army, and this was only the beginning…

Obviously I have taken a few liberties with the list with the inclusion of non-regulation units. Runic items are given at max points values for lords and heroes though I wonder if you could squeeze it all in with the rune rules. Only half war machines have max rune points. All units that can have runic banners have max points.
Let me know what you think of points values for units not covered in the rulebook, and let me know if I have missed something and should include it in my collection!
