Hello fellow dawis !

So I recently got into a club, which most members are tournaments player and play hard lists (and it is not a problem for me). There has been no dwarf player around for a longtime, and so one of them asked me to play him, in order for him to train against our bearded lads. The list he had was for a limitation tourny but he told me to bring my usual list anyway, just to see what dwarves are about nowadays.

So here the list goes (a standard mash, very similar to monty's) :

Runesmith General, shield, RoStone, RoSpellEating, RoFurnace
Runesmith, GW, RoStone, RoSpellEating
Thane BSB, Shield, Grungni
2xME

2x10 Quarrelers, shield, standard
27 Shieldbeards, FCG

26 Hammerers, FCG, RoFire, MRoGroth
Canon, RoForge
Canon, RoForge, RoBurning
2xGyros

OG, RoAccuracy
OG, RoAccuracy, RoBurning
5 Rangers.

His list :

Grey Seer, Scroll of power, probably other stuff
Lord with Fell Blade
Plague Priest on Plague Furnace
Warplock with doom rocket

40 Clanrats
2x40 Slaves
27 Plague monks
40 StormVermin

2 Doomwheels
1 Warp canon
2x7 Gutter runners

Pre-game thoughts : I had a very strong and solid list, pretty nasty in fact. He had a good list in my eyes but softer than mine, no storm bannner, no hell pits, only one warp canon. It's my first time against Skaven so I can't really evaluate at this point, but I think he doesn't have much.

The table had nothing in deployment zones. I had a (line of sight blocking) hill neer my zone on my left, a tower close to his at the same level. On the right side a forest and tower, and a hill close to his zone.

I don't roll the grudge (cause I already hate those rats) and he rolls :
-Dreaded 13th, Cracks wall, Scorch and Howling Warpgale. The warplock has warp lightning and the monk Blessed with filth. I was surprised he didn't get skitterleap, but I thought okay, he already has good spells with his seer.

Deployment :
I deploy centrally to maximise line of sights (the center of the table had no terrains), and close the table's edge.
Left to right : Entranched OG, Quarrelers, Canon, Shieldbeards (smith+Bsb), Entranched OG, Hammerers, Canon, Quarrelers. My gyros were deployed each side of my army, hiden by the hill and the right side tower.

He placed his canon a bit behind the left tower, the stormvermin in front of the canon.. Then left to right again :
DoomWheel, slaves with lord, Monks and Furnace, behind them clanrats with seer and warplock, Slaves, Wheel.

I deploy the ranger close to the hill to harrass his flank. At this time, I didn't knew what wheels do.
He deploy one unit of Gutter Runners on the top left of my zone, the other will come as embuchers.
I win turn one.

TURN 1 Dwarves :

My left gyro fly close to the gutter runners, the right side one marches straight forward behind the hill. That's it. The canons fired : the first one took 2 wounds of the warpcanon, and the other one had a double missfire wich resulted on "no shoots this turn or next". Not very exciting.
The Central OG shot at the furnace and hardly took 1Wound (I decided to kill monks with it afterward, I found the furnace too hard to kill for an OG). The left copter burns 3 rats and send the rest off the table, that was the good part.
The Ranger shoot at his left wheel but do nothing.

TURN 1 RATS :

He runs forward, except the right side wheel who goes 14" to my gyro behind the hill.
Magic : He cast the poisonous attacks on the monks which I let go (I don't really understood the point of it, he was pretty far up and won't see combat within 2 turns), I Dispell all the rest with my dices.
Shooting : His canon take 1 wound of my leftmost one, the wheel zaps the copter.
Ah, and his lord loose 1wound to the fellblade, lulz.

TURN 2 Dwarves :

The left gyro steam up forward behind the tower (out of sight of his canon, and far enough from the wheel). My right side quarrelers unit reform to face the probably incoming gutter runners, he did not have much room to go and this was the most likely place he would arrive.
Shooting : The canon miss the furnace, the OGs and quarrelers kill some monks, like 6 or 7 bodies. The Rangers did nothing.

TURN 2 SKAVEN :

The runners arrive close to the right quarrelers but out of sight. The left wheel charges and annihilate the rangers (no flee reaction 🙁 ). He marches up with the rest, I think his right wheel looses 2wounds to a wall.
Magic : He got warp lignting off on the Shieldbeards, killing 3. I dispell Howling wargale with dice and successfully eat the dreaded 13th with the rune, yaaaay !
Shooting : The gutter runners kill 1 dwarf on the right canon, his canon misses. The lord looses a second wound to the fell blade. Double lulz.

Turn 3 Dwarves :

The right side quarrelers reform again to attempt to catch the runners. The Gyro flyes behind the stormvermin and burn a dozen. The canon fail to wound the left wheel, the other one take 2 more wounds off the furnace. The OGs kill some more monks.

TURN 3 RATS :

The left wheel charges into the ME, which I tried to place as a redirector. He declared a lot of charges but failed all. The right side wheel had poor movement dices. The gutter runners keep dancing around the quarrelers.
He gets his warplock engi out of the clanrat to try a warp lightning on the gyro, but I dispell it. The grey seer casts Cracks wall which I eat again. Double Yaaaaaay.
The canon kill 2 dwarves of my central OG ( the only thing he sees), the runners shoot down the canon thanks to poisonnous attacks). With no surprises, the wheel rolls over the ME to impact the left OG (the base was too big to correctly redirect I think). I think he also lanched the rocket wich missed.
And... His doomfell blade lord, rolls a dice. Get a 1. Dies. We laughed really hard at this.

TURN 4 Dwarves :

The rightside quarrelers reforms in line to stop a flank charge on the martelers by the runners. The leftmost quarries also reform to recieve the incoming slaves and wheel (and get a face charge). I slightly reajust my packs for the incoming charges, and keep groth on everyone.
Shooting : my last canon kills the furnace, and the right OG the wheel. The gyro burns 11 more stormvermins.

TURN 4 RATS

As expected, the right side wheel and slaves charges the quarries, the monks on their flank. The stormvermins don't see anything and march forward. The rightside slaves charges the Hammerers. Theclanrat move a bitforward.
He pass Scorch on the shieldbeards and kill some of them.
The canon misses, and the gutter shot a quarrelers down.
Thanks to shieldwall, the leftside quarries survive with 3 bodies and stand with the Groth stubborn (wich is just slightly in range). The slaves kill one dwarf, and the hammerers kill 7 with only 3 beards in contact of the rats. I reform to get the more ranks I can have (5*5).

TURN 5 Dwarves

I attempt a charge with my shieldbeards on the back of the monks but fail (I'm not very familiar with the charge's wheels, but I did have to wheel more than 45° to connect). I then move to face them and the incoming vermin. The gyro flies around the vermin and the rightmost quarries charge the runners. The stand and shoot only kills one dwarf (thanks to the 4up armor save).
Shooting : The gyro and remaining OG kill all the remaining stormvermins. The canon shoot at his left wheel, wich was out of combat due to the lack of figures to connect to. And the wheel dies.
Fighting : The hammerers, thanks to their reformation, have more ranks than the slaves and make them explode. The right side quarries win combat against the runners (charge + standard) and catch them running in the woods. The left side ones get destroyed by the slaves and monks. He reforms akwardly, the monks in rank of 2 rats facing my last gyro. He did not have much room because of the combat configuration.

TURN 5 RATS

The monks charge the gyro who flees and fail to connect. The grey seer and the clanrats get back a bit. The left slaves reform face to the shieldbeards flank.
Magic : he kills some shieldbeards, nothing much.

TURN 6 and end :

I charge his clanrats with the hammerers, he runs away and I catch him anyway (dem sprinters). We choose to stop here.
I got 1canon, 1OG, 1gyro, my 2packs and a quarreler unit. The Shieldbeards were ready to charge in the back of his monks.
He only got left some slaves, monks about to die and his canon.

Result in a massacre for me, and my first victory

I still feel like he couldn't do much with his list against mine. It was pretty dirty.
Even after some bad 1st shooting turns, I rapidly killed his biggest threats (furnace, wheels, dreaded 13th and even crackwalls). After that, he didn't have much to do anything.
The gyro got almost 40 stormvermins on his own.
I got some very bad artillery rolls, but thanks to the runes/ME and redondance they did their job anyway.

I really like this list and would love to try it in a harder set up, like a tourny or something (even tho I'm not very good and make some terribad mistakes).. Here for exemple I should have entranched the rightmost canon to prevent the gutter runners to shoot it, and reform the quarrelers in line directly on turn 2, to block the rats.
Also, his canon had very poor shots and the fellblade killed his lord before he even sees a round of combat, wich is very, very unlucky. I don't know if it would have change much the game tho.

Tell me your thoughts !
