Deploy in a tight formation, eg around a hill (like the one in the back of the dwarf army book).

Never charge them!!!

Blow them apart with any missile troop you have to hand (crossbowdwarfs, thunderers).

Their crossbows-don't worry about them.

Never charge them!!! (this is so important I can't tell you enough times).

Maybe take a Gyro, to steam them, even charge them in the rear/flank.

Hmm K...the other problem is that if I just sit there his bolt throwers will screwer ME...but I finished my organ gun conversion and was thinking of using it against them...yeah or nay on that?

And a Gyro? Is it useful against any other opponents?

Your Organ Gun has a range of 18!!!

It will be nowhere near, to blow up Bolt Throwers, take a flame cannon (mmmmmmmmmm, panic).

If oyu want to blow apart Reaper Throwers take a cannon and guess ranges VERY well.

Or a Stone Thrower!
With that you can hit more of them than with a Cannon, unless your opponent puts his flank towards you.

In larger battles most Runes on the Anvil of Doom can be useful against them. The only problem is to get them off though...

Good luck!

If you dont want the enemys bolts going through your crewman´s chest, yes. But I think the points is best spend on a Rune of Accuracy...

As a sidenote to 'Ardfoot's recommendation to use the gyrocopter to charge the dark riders in the flank or rear -- do not ever do that unless you are also charging in the front with ranked up troops.

The reason for this is that if the Gyro loses combat it automatically crashes. The reason it will automatically lose combat against the dark riders is that they will outnumber the Gyro as it's unit strength is 1. You must have a unit strength of 5 before you get the +1CR bonus for a flank charge or a +2 bonus for a rear charge. In other words, unless you score a wound in combat and take none in return, the Gyro will autocrash if you charge (by itself).

Hmm..so dont use a gyrocopter unless I have a unit of warriors in the same CC...got ya. *makes a tossing motion with his gyrocopter* *Out you go!*

Dark Riders are easy to get rid of. He will probubly take at least two units of them so be ready. I would take two units of 10 crossbowmen and SHOOT! The dark riders have light armor only and are T3, SHOOT!

Typical Dark elf generals will take two units of five with repeating crossbows and a musician. Thats 127pts per unit. Kill them only with your shooty units, do not shoot war machines at them and never charge them. Once the Dark rider units are down to two models ignore them. They are unit strength 4 then and will not be a threat.

NEVER CHARGE THEM! - that is what the dark elf generals want you to do. It will seperate your line and allow that one unit to be flanked. They will then roll up up.

Good luck and happy hunting.

An organ gun'll slaughter them here. And their charge distance doesn't exceed its range so it'll always get to shoot before they charge. It'll kill, on average, 4-5 a shot. Cool. 8)

I think miners could take out repeater bolt throwers. They might get a shot off first, but that's jut another excuse to take more miners! :D

Remember once they are down to two models they are only US 4 and therefore not a threat ++++ you get half the victory points for the unit.

To do this, yes the organ gun is nice but crossbowmen will be able to range them sooner. More shots, more wounds (T3), more kills (AS 5+)

Good Luck
