Well spoken Thorfar! They destroyed the Old World, and expect our praise and thanks for returning it?! Sounds like a double entry in the Book if you ask me!

Which can be only ereased by making Old World the only fantasy Warhammer game sold by Games Workshop or the total destruction of said company by the hands of the Dwarfs.Well spoken Thorfar! So GW decide to release Bretonnians at the same time as I'm trying to save some money.
Even so, it will be fun to dust off my Reiklanders and Dwarfs again, maybe try and get some painting done. Re-basing all my models will be a hassle though...

No need to rebase, I'm actually currently making a thread on Chaos Dwarfs Online with an index of places to source spaced movement trays.
There are a lot of free STLs, as well as a comment with a link to information on how to make your own by Reaver.

The suggestion is that the new rulebook will be the best bits of previous editions. The problem is that apart from the Brets and Skaven (sort of) every army book is geared to the 8th edition. Admittedly some were pretty dodgy to begin with but my concern is that in the past, when a new edition was released, they'd do a FAQ to adapt the old AB to the new rules - and it usually ended up an unholy mess.
So if you are tempted by their wily slanneshhiiii ways it might be easier to adapt any new miniature's rules to whatever edition you most prefer

Can you post a link here? That's exactly what I've been looking for since I don't care to rebase either.

My favourite so far, of directly purchasable options that don't require 3d printing, if the CustomMeeple MDF adapter movement trays.

This reddit thread is hilarious, people going "Wow! Those new Dwarfs look amazing!" When they're literally the 8th edition Dwarf Ironbreakers that have always been in production since 2014.
But there are Royal Mail commemorative stamps coming out and they've got the plastic White Lions of Chrace on them, so we know that kit is coming back into production which is pretty cool since it's a rare one.

The 2014 Ironbreaker and Hammerer sets did look great and were easy to rank up too. However, as with many GW things, they were also prohibitively expensive.

The most important thing is that Dwarfs will be a fully-supported main faction, not that there was ever much doubt they would be. Very exciting stuff! the launch certainly feels on course for the predicted September-time

As long as there's Dwarves, I'll be happy!
Confirmed!

I'm actually so hyped for the Old World, especially the return of metal models. There was a made-to-order run done on Thorgrim Grudgebearer and Thorek Ironbrow in September 2018, and I was crushed when I found out it was finecast. I skipped it, and I was glad I did because the people who did buy them got the worst pimply finecast I've ever seen, every smooth surface was covered in bumps.
My prediction, even with the recent price increases in Made-To-Order, is that Thorgrim's last model, if it comes back in some form, will cost £40-£50. (It was £37.50 in the September 2018 Made-To-Order, the same as its prior retail price). That alone would make me incredibly happy.
Plastic Multipart Dwarf Miners are an incredibly rare kit as well, seeing those return for £25 a box or less would be fantastic.
Metal Dwarf Grudgethrowers for £30 or less would be great.
Metal Dwarf Bolthrowers for £25 or less would be great, they're hard to find second hand as well.
Various metal Dwarf Lord/Hero models would be nice to get for some of the rarer ones, but of course GW will sell those at about £19 each given its recent prices on Made-To-Order individual models. At that price, I'd only be interested in the ones that are hard to come by second hand. Really any more than £12.50 per single metal dwarf and I'm out.

The thought has just occurred to me, it would be very unusual for Dwarfs not to have Slayers in the Old World, and it seems unlikely that GW would use the old metal slayers as the main kit for them, as good as those models are.
So it follows then that it's relatively likely we will get plastic 8th edition style Trollslayers, which would certainly be cool. Of course I wouldn't say it with any form of certainty of course.

Does anyone know when Drake Guns were invented? I wonder if Irondrakes were a thing at the time The Old World is set?
(Not that it matters much to me, I'm crossbows all the way!)

I'm crossbows all the way!
That’s good. All this gunpowder is totally untested and unsecure.

Great stuff. Was yet to start looking for it but with that great resource, why not now?
Not played Dwarfs since 6th Ed, first book.. but I might come back to Dwarfs now, too (Playings Orcs & Goblins mainly now, sorry..)
We´ll see.. I want 6th Ed models though, later on it is too steam punky for me.. Rules needs to be okay but it is the models and fluff that is the most important..
I´m hyped.. It still sounds promising. I can live with the Core factiocs getting attention at first.. Let´s be happy and not grumpy? (Damn, did I say that??)

I agree about it sounding promising.
The return of metal models, Dwarfs and most of the most popular factions, the return of tomb kings and bretonnia, new lore, new time setting, lower model count than 8th ed, cross-compatible base sizes with AoS.
All very exciting stuff. If nothing else, the return of metal models alone is everything to me.

Yeah, I agree on that! of all my old stuff from all games I only have a single, meta Scout with shotgun left.. (Got rid of all i had except paints).
That felt nice. White metal so not the old lead but still, nice feeling..
If nothing else, we get models, new and old. Even if the game is "I swear too much" it will help with making proper armies for any other edition (I prefer 6th Ed)
A little sad that the VCs are not in the Core as I like them as scary opponents. But they get their pdf and I am sure they will get attention at some point. They were quite popular, for obvious reasons, right?
