Greetings all.

Gotrek returns with a new miniature.

Granted it is for AoS and hence comes on a big round base covered with the debris of war but seeing this little fella back on the shelves warms my heart.

I am excited for this. It’s the only miniature I have ever pre-ordered.

I pre-ordered the little guy myself, and picked him up at my FLGS. Can't wait to have the chance to crack open the kit and have a go at building and painting him. I also snagged the new audio drama and the Ghoulslayer novel as well, and I'm looking forward to spending an evening listening to Brian Blessed and working on the model. As for his Warscroll, man he's a beast, as he should be. Now they need to make a model of his Witch Elf companion.

Hmm interesting, they've modelled his axe as duel bladed, whilst all ofther incarnations have had it single bladed. It makes sense of course as it is meant to be the twin axe of Grimnir's tha the high king welds and has always been depicted as duel bladed. But novel it's taken this long to marry them up.

In the first army book GWS were obviously suggesting that Gotrek's & the High King's axes were twins

But was it ever confirmed?

In typical GWS fashion they did give The White Dwarf an axe of Grimnir. I guess it could be another axe of Grimnir .... after all I imagine he'd have a few

Well, thats if you consider BL books canon or not. It would seem that the axe Gotrek wields is the axe of the royal lineage from Kazad Dum. Maybe its the one Grimnir took with him on his last quest, but how he gave it to someone else is a mistery

I thought Gotrek found the axe on his journey into the chaos wastes before getting to Dum.

Mind you canon was always pretty flexible in GWS' world
