[Glyfi Ironbeard]

Together, Lykos and Marcus continue down the trail until they came to a group of three buildings.  No one can be seen here as they look around but the buildings are at least lived in as smoke issues from two of the three chimneys.

 

The house closest to them is the one with no smoke but it has a number of logs stacked beside it with a saw and axe stuck into one of the larger logs.  The second house has a number of animal skins hanging up on a line outside the door.  The third house also has a line, but instead of animals a number of plants can be seen hanging.

Lykos motions for Markus to follow him as he steps up to the house with the many plants hanging from the line being dried.

 

Before he can knock on the door, a haggard woman's voice says, "Be coming in, coming on in."

 

Lykos cautiously pushes the door open and is immediately assaulted by a blast of caustic aromas.  His eyes water as he peers into the interior of the hut.

 

"Well," says a middle aged woman, "be come on in and don't you be holding open the door."

 

She is moving about the hut and gathering various herbs.  A number of clay pots house distinct fora of various hues.  The plants she picks, she crushes between her fingers as she adds them to a small clay pot in her hand.

 

"You's be getting a nasty cut no doubt and then will be wanting o' Abby to be fixing it for you."

'A shame indeed. Might be we could look around for him if time allows it. If not then we can at least go a bit out of our way to take a greenskin head or two extra. For the cause.'

Markus follows Lykos down the trail. First things first, neither would be served with the priest not being properly for.

"Yes i would very much appreciate it if you were able to tend to my wounds. I fear there will still be much fighting to do bringing these greenskins to ground and I won't be much good to anyone in my current condition."

The woman simply grins at the two as she stirs feverishly.

 

Finally, she sets the bowl down on a table and says, "You will be paying five ecu for my services and you will be applying this to each of your wounds."

 

She then holds out her hand for payment, ready to snatch the bowl away if payment is refused.

Lykos pays the woman and takes the offered bowl. He makes some conversation, ensuring he knows how to properly apply the ungent and inquires about the nearby area, trying to steer the conversation mostly towards the surrounding village and any threats they may have heard of nearby.

Lykos could smell a pungeant odor from the bowl as he examined the ointment.  After a bit of instruction, he began to rub the greasy feeling stuff into his deep cut.

 

For a moment, his eyes nearly crossed from the burning pain of the salve in his wound.  His eyes began to water and his nose began to pour.  Then, just as quickly as it started, the pain faded and he was left with numb, tingling experience.

 

His nose was still running and his eyes watering when he began to feel much better and started to talk with the woman.  Markus listened as the old woman replied to the inquiries.

 

"We's going to be having goblins," she was saying with a chortle of laughter.  "We is going to be having lots and lots of goblins so we will.  They are going to be trying to chase us away and we are going to push them back.  Nasty business it will be, but it is necessary."

 

Finally, seeing the look of determination in Lykos' eye, she adds, "The knights up at the castle are going to be finding one of the goblin camps.  You will be wanting to go speak with them if you are going to want to know more."

Lykos winced as he applied the healing ungent. He thanked the woman and made his way back towarda the center of the village. After a quick stop at the blacksmith he continues on to the keep to speak to the Knights about their upcoming forray.

Haggling with the blacksmith, Lykos was finally offered a gold ecu and four silver denair for the goblin sword.

 

"It will not be fit for anything save scrap and melting," the man insists.

 

Together with Markus, the two approached the main castle.  This fortress was still in the middle phases of construction.  The main keep was mostly done but the outer skirt and walls was no where near complete.  Scaffolding was sit haphazardly against the walls and jutted out over a cliff on the far side.

 

Markus saw two skinny bretonnians scrambling out over the yawning drop off and was glad he was safe on the ground.  Lykos saw it and turned away masking what he thought of the scene.

 

As they approached the gate, a man in stained and faded livery stepped forward and challenged the pair saying something in a funny language.  Not getting a response he tries again, "And who will you two be being and where will you pair be a going?"

Lykos greets the guard,and does his best to explain why he is there, hoping the man understands enough reikspiel to get by. He mentions wishing to meet back up Sir Dubon and join with the knights if they plan to attack the greenskins.

The man was a bit slow with Reikspiel and had to have Lykos repeat it more than once but he understood what was said and motioned for a boy who stood in the doorway.  The two exchanged a few quick word in a different language and the boy ran off.

 

"He will be running to fetch Sir Phillipe d'Lulz," the man tells Lykos.  "You will be wanting to go and speak with him the goblins."

 

A few minutes later, the boy came running back, a few more words exchange, and the man informs Lykos and Markus that the knight will be down shortly.

 

A half hour passes and then an hour, but no knight shows up.

'Right, we have been here more than shortly and your good knight is still not here. What would you propose we do about that, my good man?'

Markus was growing impatient but he was also fairly confident that being rude or impatient would get him very little ways with these folk so he tried to be as friendly as he could in the situation.

The man ponders Markus' words for a minute before he finally responds, "I'm going to be guessing that I might can be going to see what will be keeping him."

 

The man leans his halberd against the frame of the door and moves off into the castle.  At this point, the two notice that no one is guarding the castle gate.

"I think we've waited long enough, lets go see what's keeping them."

Pushing on into the fastness, the two meet no one until they arrive at a small chamber where five knights are in the middle of a heated debate in a different language.  None of them seem to take any notice of the two outside the door.

 

Looking around, there is a doorway that is closed to their left and this one on the right that leads to the knights.  Ahead of them is a stair case that leads up and down.

Not seeing the gate guard anywhere, Markus tries to listen in on what the knights are arguing about.

 

After trying to glean some sort of information from the debacle in the room, he decides that since they haven't found who they were looking for and no one has stopped them yet, nothing is to hinder for them to look around further.

 

He gestures to the stairs and heads towards them.
