Grots is correct.  Anything he has in his possession transforms with him by my understanding of the rules.  If he goes to pick up something else he would have to worry about the encumbrance.  If he grabs his sword in this from he will not be able to carry it off.  A coconut he might manage as he could grasp it by the husk, but then we have to factor in the air speed velocity of a laden sparrow versus...  :P

 

As a side note, Grots has a new statline that is that of a small raptor.

 

WS 36, BS 0, S 10, T 10, Ag 35, Int 11, WP 20, Fel 0

A 2, W 6, M 2 (8 while flying).

You have Perception +20%, Excellent Vision, Flier, and Keen Senses.

All attacks count as unarmed.

 

Also, any damage he receives in this state will transfer over to his actual character sheet when he turns back.  If you get your beak hacked off, you will be missing your nose when you are in elf form so be careful.  ;)

As a quick book keeping update, I think most threads are moving to a point where time will be progressing a bit once more.  I will use this pause to hand out XP once more and make sure characters are up to date.

 

Roughly speaking, the odd couple thread will see time progress a bit as the dwarf and elf return to the abbey and Lars continues poking about.  With the slayers, you will be given a choice between shoring up defenses in the mine or traveling with the guards.  I will be sending out PMs to a few of you tomorrow when I can gather some of my thoughts and go through my notes.

 

For the group trudging through the forest, for the time being, you all will continue normally and we will postpone the XP give out.  You may continue to track the missing party member for as long as you like with the knowledge that you will get your XP rewards when you complete your quest.

Ambush Round!

 

Spider 1 attacks Markus and rolls 40 + 10 for a successful hit on the head.

Dodge Blow attempt rolls 57 for a failure.

Damage roll of 5 + SB 4 = 9 against TB 3 + AP 1 = 4.  5 damage dealt.

Toughness to resist poison roll of 70.  Markus is paralyzed for 5 rounds.

 

Spider 2 attacks Sir Dubon and rolls 45 + 10 for a successsful hit on the torso.

Dodge Blow attempt rolls 49 for a failure.

Damage roll of 2 + SB 4 = 6 against TB 3 + AP 3 = 6.  No Damage dealt.

 

Spider 3 drops down near Markus and moves towards Lykos.

Spider 4 drops down near Sir Dubon and moves towards the knight.

 

The goblins just hang onto the spiders and goad them forward.

 

 

 

Sorry Hammerjohn, but you are out of the battle for a bit unless Lykos and Dubon can fend off the spiders.  The forest spider poison is fairly nasty.

I’m just hoping Hammerjohn hasn’t taken over for Ragnar in this game. Did Ragnar ever fight in a battle in the Sun Oath story where he didn’t immediately fail a fear test and spend the combat cowering in the corner? At least this game has few reasons (so far) for a fear test. I think the demon was the only thing that could cause terror that you all have encountered though no one has actually faced it yet.

Is it actually possible for us to fight (and win) against the daemon? I'd assume we'd all need to be in top careers to do so (Witch Hunter, Grail Knight, Captain, Master Wizard ec rc)?

You could theoretically beat it but it would be a fluke of the dice rolls I think. Of course you all dropped the wyvern in two rounds without me having to help out with the cannon in the Sun Oath so...

Just so everyone in the Odd Couple thread is aware...  I finally went back and updated the first page of this thread with a crude sketch of the abbey (5th post or so with the other maps).  The top of the page is north and so forth for reference.  The catacombs are the bit off to the west.

 

It is rough but hopefully it gives you a bit of detail on what is there.

These are the moments I feel bad about.  As the GM I can honestly state that burning a FP on a character is easier for me then watching a character sit without being able to do anything.  I use two ten sided dice when I roll (I like the actual rolling of dice hence why I don't use an app) with the white one being the tens place and the blue one as the ones.  I was really tempted a number of times in helping out one of the dwarfs in the last game I ran by reversing the place value when it was apparent that Ranald was not on the dwarf's side.  I know I told him sorry when it happened and I am sorry for you as well but I refuse to manipulate the rolls so I hope everyone can understand when a roll goes against them. 

 

What we really need is for someone to join as a halfling and come save everyone caught in the webs as it looks like you may have company soon enough.  Just hope the knight's armor can withstand a few more blows and allows him and the priest to win out.  I really didn't appreciate how rough the poison would be and didn't expect it to go through like it did.

Spider 3 attacks Lykos and rolls a 70 for a miss.

 

Spider 4 attacks Sir Dubon and rolls a 21 for a successful hit on the head.

Parry attempt roll of 14 for a successful parry.

 

Markus is now unconcious for 4 more rounds.

 

Sir Dubon attacks Spider 2 and rolls 76 for a failure.

 

Lykos attempts to set the nearby brush on fire.

No roll to hit needed (Inanimate object)

Damage roll of 9 + SB 4 - 4 (Torch) = 9 versus TB 2 = 7 damage and brush is destroyed (On fire!).

 

The goblins just hang onto the spiders and goad them forward.

 

 

Round 2

 

Spider 1 takes a panic test against fire and rolls 68 for a failure.  Goblin 1 takes a leadership test of 13 for a success.

Spider 1 finishes binding up Markus.

 

Spider 2 takes a panic test and rolls 49 for a success.

Spider 2 attacks Sir Dubon and rolls 91 for a failure.

 

Spider 3 takes a panic test and rolls 98 for a critical failure.  Goblin 3 takes a leadership test and rolls a 92 for a critical failure as well.  Spider 3 flees.

 

Spider 4 takes a panic test and rolls 07 for a success.

Spider 4 charges at Lykos and rolls a 45 for a successful hit on the Left Arm.

Damage roll of 2 + SB4 = 6 against TB 4 + AP 1 = 5.  1 damage dealt to Lykos.

 

Markus is now unconscious for 3 more rounds.

 

Sir Dubon aims an attack at Spider 2 and rolls 49 for a success.

Damage roll of 5 + SB 3 = 8 against TB 4 + AP 2 = 6.  2 Damage dealt.

 

Lykos aims an attack at Spider 4 and rolls 13 for a success.

Damage roll of 6 + SB 4 = 10 against TB 4 + AP 2 = 6.  4 Damage dealt.

 

The goblins just hang onto the spiders and goad them forward.

 

 

Round 3

 

Spider 1 takes a panic test (Since it failed in the last round) and rolls 84 for a critical failure.  Goblin 1 takes a leadership test and rolls 15 for a failure (Penalty for the critical failure too high to overcome).  Spider 1 flees leaving Markus bound in webbing.

 

Spider 2 (No panic test needed, passed it last turn) attacks Sir Dubon and rolls 38 for a successsful hit on the right leg.

Dodge Blow attempt rolls 12 for a successful dodge.

 

Spider 3 continues to flee.

 

Spider 4 (No panic test needed, passed last turn) attacks Lykos and rolls a 32 for a successful hit on the Right Arm.

Damage roll of 3 + SB4 = 7 against TB 4 + AP 1 = 5.  2 damage dealt to Lykos.

Critical roll of 9.  Lykos drops his torch and hammer on the ground.

 

Markus is now unconscious for 3 more rounds.

 

Sir Dubon attacks Spider 2 and rolls 24 for a successful hit on the body.

Damage roll of 10 + 8 (Ulric's Fury) + SB 3 = 21 against TB 4 + AP 2 = 6.  15 Damage dealt.

Critical Roll of 7.  Stunned for 1 round.

 

Lykos picks up hammer and attacks spider 4 and rolls 96 for a critical failure (Drops hammer again).

 

The goblins just hang onto the spiders and goad them forward.  Goblin 4 is stuck on the spider 4 as it goes down.

 

 

 

Round 4

 

Spider 1 continues running.

 

Spider 2 takes a panic test due to turn of tide and rolls 56 for a failure and goblin rolls 62 for a failure.  Spider 2 flees.

 

Spider 3 continues to flee.

 

Spider 4 is stunned.

 

Markus is now unconscious for 2 more rounds.

 

Sir Dubon charges Spider 4 and rolls 43 for a successful hit.

Damage roll of 4 + SB 3 = 7 against TB 4 + AP 2 = 6.  1 Damage dealt.

Critical Roll of 2.  Spider is slain as Dubon sinks his sword through the creature's many eyes.

 

Lykos picks up hammer and attacks goblin 4 and rolls 40 for a successful hit on the goblin's head.

Damage roll of 10 + 10 (Ulric's Fury) + 8 = 28.  Just assume the goblin died with skull smashed by hammer.  :P

 

 

 

 

 

The fight is over unless you wish to charge after the fleeing spiders.  Markus can wake up at this point but he is stuck in the webbing until someone helps him.  Congrats on driving off the spiders!  I honestly didn't think you had much chance once Markus went down.
