Those are fantastic. Are the joystick tops pool balls?

Yes they are, I was eventually hoping to have a complete set but it took years & alot of money to get those 8 so only managed the dots no stripes sadly

Hi Dazza

In view of recent posts are we able to happily consider you back in the hobby? Hope so. Loved your dwarf and gobbos updates.

Cheers

Not perfect but I'm happy with how the casts are coming out.  Three fairly consistent gyros assembled as Dazza recommended (pilots just placed and blades temporarily attached with some not hardening clay for the pictures).

This may change my painting plan because I want to make casts of many... so my 4A Chaos Dwarfs may be next (they are still in print so I can't justify making copies).  I think they'll go well with my Marauder Chaos unit.

Hopefully somewhen soon I've had a busy last year and have recently moved into a new house which needs alot of work so that takes precedent LOL.

I went to a plastics shop down the street from my local gaming store (which is incredibly fortunate) and chatted with the guy there. They have a YouTube channel if you search for TAP Plastics with good tutorials. He recommended a silicone mix to make molds. Quick Cast I think is the brand but I'm out of town for a bit so I can't check. I created a small funnel base with non hardening clay and put my original model at the tip (deciding where the pour point will be is important, flat or tips is best). I first tried to make multiple pieces in one molds but didn't have great results. Then I add some air vents at various points with toothpicks attached win clay and put the model in a clear plastic cup. Add the silicone mix not directly on the model and if you can give it a consistent but soft shake (the force of a cellphone vibration) to move the air bubbles out.

After it hardens cut along the edge to the model around about 2/3 or 3/4 of the mold and pull out the model. Then I use a two part resin mix, cover vent holes with painters tape so air escapes but liquid doesn't. I've been getting a lot of bubbles that mess with the detail but if you can stir the mix internally (I started using a tooth pick to get the bubbles to the surface). Let harden for 20-30 minutes, it's a little soft/flexible but helps removing the flash. Then add green stuff when fully hardens. I'm tweaking every time so there may be better ways (using a vacuum de-gasser for example). The initial buy was a bit pricey but the marginal cost once the mold is made is very cheap.

Hope my airport layover explanation helps.

Ok, been working on and off on various units.  Here are my clansmen just missing a champion:

Dwarf Clansmen 07
Dwarf Clansmen 08

Here are a few pics of my Snotling Anvil... the composition is a bit more green than I'd like, if I were to do it again, I might have made it an anvil broken down in a volcano or go with blue skin.

Working on my Bugman Rangers with a harlequin pattern and a bit more skin tone diversity.  Would love to share some WIP but I'm seeming to have some issues adding pics from the gallery to my posts.  Any one else having issues?

Yup, same here.  Also when browsing to a gallery all the buttons miss text and/or icons.  The Brewery seems to have caught a cold.

Slow going but trying a lot of new things.  Here's my Bugman work so far.  Liking the pattern/color.  Everything still needs shading/highlighting.

Was short on shields and I'm cheap so I picked up some buttons and filled the holes with milliput.  Then I thought, if I'm going to paint the crossbows on their backs, I want to see them, so I'm magnetizing the shields so they can be removed... first attempt shows that the shields were too far off the back so I clipped off the nub and I think it looks better.  Shields will get the same pattern as the sleeves... maybe with a Bugman ruin.

I like to start other projects while finishing others... helps break up the routine.  So I bought some Vullite Berzerkers and a Grombrindal because I really want some alpine dwarves.  Pop on some skis/goggles I think we'll get some little dudes Glen Plake would be proud of.

I can heard the slayer with the open legs screaming "Death from above!" as he descendes from the slope of a mountain into a bunch of surprised (and horrified) goblins. Good stuff all around!

While I get things primed, I continue with the conversion game.  My attempt at a Dwarf Dreadnaught... maybe ahead of the "Steamhead" this will turn out useful.  It's a 40K Killa Kan with an old gyrocopter pilot and some green stuff.  Lots left to do but would love opinions on things to alter.
