I'm still at the relatively early stages of making up a few models and I wondered suddenly how I might go about adding runes to weapons to help really define the "hero" models. I've seen suggestions around the web of just painting them on, or using green stuff to build them up on the blade/armor, even buying brass etched runes to glue on and paint over. Rarely have I seen people suggesting, for plastics at least, scratching them in or even more rarely attempting to actually carve them either with extra careful hobby knife usage or actually having access to small engraving tools. But what about you guys? If you want to add that extra runic punch to a right and proper lord of the crags what do you do?

I reckon they're all viable ideas - I've painted runes onto blades in the past, black first then with gold inside but green stuff and carving sound like good plans! Practice them on the spare plastic from sprues and see what you think works best
Whatever you try be sure to post your results here - I'm sure people would be keen to see them!

I've tried carving runes with a hobby knife, didn't work out too well. Guess you'd need a lot of skill for that, or I'm doing something wrong
So go for it, but maybe practice on some extra plastic bits first
