Reading BlackThorn's Zeppelin Bomber thread I decided to get myself one. First I made my mind about buying Titan's Forge Ancestral Zeppelin, at 35 Euros plus shipping the price was high though. I bumped into some 3D models shared in www.thingieverse.com by users RealAbsurdity and dutchmogul that helped me get something pretty for my bomber / thunderbarge. I used RealAbsurdity's Zeppelin model along with dutchmogul's Wind Dragon model.

I'm curious to know the 3D print service prices : do you have ever asked them to print something for you ? Do have a rough idea of the final price for he balloon ?

I just bought the one from Titan Forge, your topic really interests me...

I was going to buy that one too, but the reviews about the delays in shippings really scared me. That reminds me, if anyone knows of a store that stocks Titan Forge models please tell me, since I'm too scared to purchase directly from them. To answer your question: I emailed a shop that has 3d printing services for a budget on these models and I'm still waiting for their reply. I'll post here as soon as they tell me how much it would cost.

Do have a rough idea of the final price for he balloon?

 

They sent me the cost today. Both pieces would cost a total of 40 USD, without the wings (which I decided I don't want). They told me that I can also get them a "final polish". I dunno if you've ever seen a 3d printed model, but there is a line pattern left by the machine, which, depending on the thickness of the plastic thread used, can or cannot become undetectable with a couple coats of paint. I asked them to send me the updated price with that finishing. Will post here when I know more.

 

PS: I too loved Titan Forge's Colossal Zeppelin, but at 32 Euros (which is close to 40 USD too) I think this model can look better with enough love and care when picking the additional decorations  Plus you avoid TF's lame shipping delays.

Picked the models up yesterday, all cool so far. Figuring how I'll manage to assemble it all right now. I'll keep you all updated.

 

PS: Funny story, when I arrived to the "3D Factory" it was actually a domestic apartment where a 15 year old girl handed me the models not without complaining how the small details cluttered her 3D printer's injectors. Best geek underdeal ever

* Hook her up with some guns, five of em or so
* Get her crewed up, ten strong
* Strap the ship to the balloon with some sort of rope resembling thingies

I have the small TF Zeppelin painted and now I got the Colossal from some friends.
 

Be warned that TF stuff does not fit well, and that it requires a lot of work on cleaning, reshaping, pinning, green-stuffing...
The most demanding assembly I have done, and I have a fully painted Goblin hewer.

The models are beautiful but also extremely heavy. Colossal Zeppelin comes  with a fairly thick plastic rod, but it comes with 50mm base, and it is still really unstable.

Just a heads up that I'm still working on this project. I just have been playing more than modelling and painting, so I don't have any new pictures to show yet. I do have new goodies that will add to the project, some recent ebay purchases including 3 black tree design copter pilot with bomb, 5 gyrocopter clatterguns, six black tree design war machine crew (of which I'll prolly use only 5, for the sake of keeping my plastic model as metal-free as possible due to weight issues), and last but not least, a beer barrel

Thanks. Crew is all Black Tree Design. Three Copter Pilots, three Bolt Thrower Crew and three Stone Launcher Crew.
