Hey all, hope you don't mind, I just wanted to clarify if I understood the new Age of Sigmar rule for the organ gun.

 

Assuming that I have a 3 crew and I want to fire 4 barrels, the process is:

 

1) Roll for cannon misfire

  -  number of barrels+   [so a 4+ on a D6]

  -  This can be re-rolled if an engineer is in 1 inch

 

2) Roll for hit for each barrel based on chart

  -  with three crew this is a 3+ on a D6 (x4 - for each barrel).

 

3) For each successful hit, roll a D6 for wounds.

 

 

With 1 crew member firing 4 barrels, this is a 4+ misfire roll and a 5+ to hit for each barrel.

 

 

Sorry if this is obvious, just wanted to check I had understood the rules correctly.

You make 1d6 hit rolls for 1 damage each, per loaded barrel.

I haven't played AOS yet, as I've only just returned to the hobby. But my understanding from the rules is:

1. Roll for misfire as you said
2. Roll one die per barrel for the total number of shots
3. Roll to hit and wound for each shot (3+ for both if all the crew are still alive) and work out wounds as normal.

Ah, that makes more sense - so figure out the number of attacks and each attack is a dice roll of 3+, 4+ or 5+ depending on crew number - so we still get to roll a load of dice  :cool:

What about the Bolt thrower? The Organ gun seems like it could be good against low armour units with large numbers.

I don't think it's the weakest. It's just more random than ever. I usually load 3 barrels with an engineer and haven't had it jam almost ever.

There have been times that I get 5 shots and they all mis, but I've also had it do 15 shots with 12 wounds.

It's random but can destroy face too.

the bolt thrower is actually not so bad it has good range can due huge damage and shoots 2 times

 

the organ gun has a chance of not shooting this is bad i think. you'll probably be rolling 3 dice 9 times out of 10 so on average your looking at 10/11 hits needing 3's and 3's - so with 11 hits your looking at 5 wounds with rend of 1

 

I say its our weakest cause if you think about it, what would you take it over via our other warmachines.... maybe the bolt thrower.... but other than that?
