I will be posting photos of my oop dwarfs that I have painted in the late 90's.

I hope you will find these interesting as I have some nice oop models and some really nice ideas were implemented while building the army.

sorry for the picture quality.

First is my flagship conversion. This was done after the chief of asterix (fat guy on shield). At that time nobody else had this miniature made. I used two throne bearers and a round base as the shield. I was really proud about my idea but 2 years later many similar conversions were seen around and later on GW issued their model.

The king is accompanied by his guards with two handed hammers, making a brute unite of 10 tough dwarfs.

The guards are converted plastic chaos dwarf models. tall hats were flatted down, teeth removed and axes replaced with hammers from the regiments of renown kit

the reason the dwarfs have orange beards is because I was thinking of their story as following. these 10 great dwarfs used to be really good slayers. but a good slayer is a failed slayer (did not achieve honorable death) and therefore these guys have decided to go back and support their slayer king in a normal dwarf way.

more to come soon

Nice classic models.

I've never seen that conversion of the old chaos dwarf plastics either.

i promise to take better pictures for all models and units and will post them soon.

all these dwarfs have been painted for the second time during 1997-1999 I think.

I also have many stripped models that I did not manage to paint during that time. Namely slayers, hammerers, flame throwers, goblober, gyrocopter, anvil of doom and throne of power.

Now I am on the quest of painting my army in full. I will first paint my slayers and hammerers and then strip all the ones you have seen above.

I will also try to keep only one model of each design, and exchange the doubles with other models i do not have. i liked the darkblade and jaeckel idea of oop army. my painting skills though are not so good.

what do you guys think?

I think you're doing quite well and have a nice assortment going there!  I don't see any real reason to go through the bother of stripping any of those down!  I think they're painted rather good and if you'd throw some basing on them you'd have some great looking units there.  Personnally I'd change the green base to brown  Maybe some skintones need to be redone but I wouldn't strip them just for that!

I too have the idea of trading off my doubles and have learned that you want to keep the command models until you're sure you want to trade them off or have triples of them.  Another thing is keep some of those doubles to keep your units playable.  I've got a few minis for trade and depending what you have probably would be able to help with adding some slayers at least!  Maybe a cannon or two also.  Drop me a PM if you have an interest.

I really like the spearmen  Gc

Great army! I've never seen the Chaos Dwarfs as hammerers before. The whole force is gorgeous by today's standards, and flipping stunning circa 1997. Well done!

I love metal OOP models and I must say that I really enjoy your orange/green cannon & crew. It is a rare color combination, but I think it really works! :)
