For me, the only mount that I could see Warhammer Dwarfs on are armored bears.  If that ever happened, I would get them!

If u're interested in Dwarfs on armored bear, just the model Sciborminiatures.com has it. I got my first one a few days ago, gonna field it as gyrocopter (as im not a huge fan of those things..) and for an awesome unit filler :)

Gronti duraz!

Airships!

Storm-bound runesmiths teleporting across the table via lightning!

A flock of ravens like a bat swarm!

I don't mean to play devils advocate here, but I have to say part of the reason I love my dwarfs so much is because the models are so short and easy to transport. My poor friend who plays tomb kings has a time and a half packing up snakes, chariots, ushabti, and sphinxes. I definitely don't envy that! And I love that since the army sits on such a low plane it gives you great modelling opportunities for centerpieces.

That being said however, runic golems sound awesome. And despite the enmity from slayers, I would love the ability to field a giant. Just the image of a giant with a runic hammer and a really long beard makes me all giddy inside.

I have to echo that sentiment, Vngvar.  I'm going to be moving from Canada to the UK shortly, and I'm much more worried about transporting my wife's High Elves than my Dwarfs.

If we do get a supermodel from GW, I hope that it's short, broad, and preferably fashioned from a single piece of metal.

I would have loved to see a variant option to the gyrobomber - basically minus the bombs and add the option of carrying troops.

I envision this as a select choice of troops - either rangers or SLAYERS.

the rule to deploy them would be simple they can deploy whenever the player likes but can only move on deployment turn- no charging.

each model deployed would have to take a dangerous terrain test and I think it should cost 1 point per model more to have them deploy in this way.

it would add a whole dimension to our tactics and move away from gunline tactics as well as making slayers a viable choice

what do you guys think?

very interesting but we kind of already cross the line into 40k more then any other army. I think this may just be a bit too 40k ish

Heh.

Gyrocarrier -

Monster like stats (basically, a bigass chopper), but with a 3+ armor save and a larger version of the steam gun. Contains up to 20 Slayers. If it moves over a unit in the Remaining moves phase, you "drop" the unit of Slayers. Use the large template and scatter it 2d6 inches. If any part of the template touches a unit, the Slayers are placed in combat with the unit on it's front arch if at all possible. The unit so affected is considered to be disrupted until the start of the next dwarf movement phase. Every slayer in the unit must take a dangerous terrain test. If the unit does not land on an enemy unit, it must perform a reform during the next movement phase (forming ranks to proceed), which can be a swift reform.

I just wanted the Gronti Duraz and some (not so powerful for the price and mainly defensive) innate bound spells for the runesmith / Lord where we could choose our spell/s before the Battle (as we should be the most reliable race), maybe at the expense of a Scroll?

However, Zeppelin, better Gyro (GyroBomber kind of fills This niche, However, i see it as just different, not better) and some kind of "tunneling device" and a generic Lord on a throne would be Nice ...

And then of course a New Anvil... But now im stating the obvious :-P

Mostly augment bound spell should have been great for our Runesmith/Runelord. Then the Anvil of Doom should have been a better defensive tool for Dwarf against enemys magic and possible to throw a greater spell of what Runesmith and Runelord can take of our "Lore of Runic".

We really should awaken the long slumbering gronti duraz, this being the End Times and all.

What else would we be saving them for!?

I haven't read all posts before mine, but I would like to see an option for a master engineer to be mounted on a gyrocopter. I was disappointed that the new book didn't cover it.

Nothing fancy, just some guy roaming around on the battlefield giving re-rolls to warmachines if they shoot at an enemy within 12-18" of him.

I wouldn't appreciate any golems or mounted animals, that's not fitting the army theme in my opinion.
