Rosters are up. Generally speaking not much Dwarfs (16/31).

Some observations: 4x Dwarf Lord but 0 Runelords, a few times (3?) 20 Drakes in one unit, and looks like only one all shooty list (Denmark). Haven't time to do proper analysis so feel free to do it by yourself ;)

It is 100 points for the GT, BT and Canon.

50 is for OG and FC.

EDIT:

Now you owe me a beer, or you'll get signed in the Book, for false accusations. ;)

We will, I hope, have a gathering with NI on Thursday evening, with some games, and some beers at Mladen's home (Team Serbia Ogre). We're trying to find more then just 3 spare tables in Novi Sad, as practically all tables are at ETC...

I was surprised to see Snake1311 departing from Dwarfs and choosing Daemons instead. I hoped to see what he could pull out of his double Lord on SB build. One more fell to the treachery of Chaos powers. :( Well, no beer for him! Rob's coming, but sadly Andy had to skip a year.

As for the list analysis, I expected more of Andy's styled lists, like previous years... Instead the lists are more like my old list, with one shooty support, and mostly 2 elite GW units.

My list is truly under-powered. We'll see how it goes from here. It will be fairly difficult to preserve points, I guess, but more fun!
I toyed with other build as well, a stronger perhaps, but far less versatile and less fun to play.

Year to year, the average Dwarf score at ETC was decreasing. It was 9.4-9.5 in Poland, then dropped to about 9.2 in Serbia last year. What would be the average for the new book?

Furion's maps also favor Poland's style of play, but Captains chose those. It will favor flyers and fastcav, with loads of DD spells. The maps are extremely unfriendly to Canons, which is the reason for so many GTs, I guess.

I love those lists with 5 Gyros! I would love to see those do well in action.

That pretty much sums up my taking a break from the dwarfs, the maps were simply the straw that broke the camel's back :( as a massive "cannon > GT" fanboy that was just too mean. Our DoC player dropped out in May, so when the slot opened up I swapped over.

For the sake of completeness, below is the list I was toying with and putting through testing for a few months, pretty much up to the Wood Elf release - which I don't think would affect this build:

Hristo Nikolov - Dwarfs

Dwarf Lord on Shieldbearers: General, GW, Dwarf Pistol, Rune of Stone, Rune of Warding x 3, 247
Thane: BSB, Shield, Master Rune of Grugni, 153
Runesmith: Shield, Rune of Stone, Rune of Spellbreaking, 93
Runesmith: Shield, Rune of Stone, Rune of Spellbreaking, Rune of the Furnace, 98
27 Longbeards: GW, FC, Rune of Stocism,443
12 Quarellers: Shields, Veteran,166
30 Hammerers: FC, 450
3x 1 Gyrocopter, 3x 80
Cannon: Rune of Forging, 145
Cannon: Rune of Forging, Rune of Burning: 150
GT: Rune of Accuracy, 105
GT: Rune of Accuracy, Rune of Burning: 110
Total: 2400

The biggest challenge for list design with me was running out of Special point allowance (which is pretty much unprecedented with any of the warhammer books!). Anyone else have issues there? You will notice the list above is at 1200 for specials spot on...

I'm about to have a game on Universal Battles in about an hour using your exact list kgkid. Not sure what I'm playing against, but there's someone wanted to have a run against an ETC Dwar list and yours looks like the most fun!

While I was making Croatian match up tables Dwarfs caused me the most headaches and that Danish list is in my opinion by far the best list at this years ETC, it has every match up covered. Simply amazing.

Thanks!

I was hoping to hear how this game went? Who was you opponent?

It is not a typical list, but has versatility written all over it. Being the one-of-a-kind might also help a little, I guess.

Once ETC is over, I will try to make an analysis of my errors and ideas. I will try to present another list that I tried for this, which might be stronger. It is just that I had less time to test it and the list submission deadline caught up with me.

I am going to Novi Sad today!

All of you, find me as you arrive, we'll have those beers and a chat! We might find a way to make a Dwarf gathering there, to meet and exchange experiences. We will accept Giladis and Snake, even if they chose not to lead Dawi into this battle! ;)

All the more reason to strenuously resist all the bullshit rules about adding LOS Blocking to multiple forms of terrain in 8th. It's just a way to play to some people vision of what "good warhammer" is - fast cav, flyers, and magic. Dwarfs would do fine at any tournament if folks would stop changing the "I swear too much" rules of the game because (waaaaaaa!) cannons.

Oh, that was a rubbish game. :D

Never had a worst tournament score in my life. I will give you analysis, but I'd like to see the statistics for other armies before that.

Still one of the best, if not the best tournament I've ever had. 9 games in 5 days, one of them lasting until 1AM...

Epic tournament, I will go to Prague even if I am not on the Team!

A fantastic tournament and well done to Darko & the Serbian committee for putting on a brilliant event once again. A tough competitive tournament. Great to catch up with kgkid (Darko) again even if the results didn't go his way this time and great friendly game on the Thursday night v Serbia.

I played for Team Northern Ireland and we didn't score so well as a team but played hard, sportingly and in the spirit of the event. Personally I scored 55 points over 6 games and earned our teams most valuable player trophy (voted by my other team mates) which I'm pleased about. I had a number of 'red match' ups i.e.; those that I felt I'd struggle in but took them to improve match ups elsewhere.

Game 1 v Bulgaria Dark Elves - won 11 - 9

Game 2 v Belgium Wood elves - won 15-5

Game 3 v Australia Orcs - nightmare dice & lost 4-16

Game 4 - Croatia Tomb Kings - won 11-9

Game 5 - Wales High Elves drawn 10-10

Game 6 - Slovenia Vamps lost 5-15

lowest moment - Game 3 - losing my entire 28 Longbeards and general to one irresistible foot of Gork turn 2 which stomped EIGHT TIMES hitting and removing the entire unit and general.

Most Humorous moment - Game 6 - hitting his vamp lord with two cannons, him failing both look out sirs then ward saving both cannon hits. Aghhhhh!

Luckiest moment - Cannoning off a level 4 death caster v Wood elves.

Overall my list played out quite well. A few tweaks here and there possibly but it works in team play as not much wants to engage it. Anyway it will be interesting to see the scores by race when they come in.

We have some health issues with our IT guy, so detailed results are still unavailable.

As soon as he sends, or publishes the results, I will link them, and give a better report then the first one.

I have had 5 great opponents in the official part and 3 great friendly games before ETC. The one missing was decent as well, but we've had some disagreement on measuring techniques that just sucked the life out of me.

My result is the personal worst ever, but I can not put my finger on my army, or just my mistakes and say that the army does not work. It is fairly difficult to play, I'll give you that. I requires better pairing, and it requires different styles of play against different opponents, but it offers fair chance for a draw. It has a drawback of having to small units, under the ETC restrictions.

My opponents from all 9 games said my dice were awful, and they were. Never had a streak like that, my machines caused something like 25-30 wounds in total, form all 6 games, and I mostly shot for at least 4 turns per game, hitting the empty field most of the time.

It was extreme pleasure meeting with old Dawi friends there, Feldeghast, Gojira, Crompton and Snake most of all. Meeting with other, non Dawi friends was extreme pleasure also.

I am extremely sorry if I missed anyone, but I have trouble connecting names, faces and internet handles together. I tried to meet with as many of Dwarf players as possible.

I was so honored to meet a new Dwarf hope there and to have a great game against him. It is a guy of only 17, but a great play-style, from Czech republic Michal 'Houbičkář' Malý.

I had a blast at my 3rd ETC with Scotland. If anyone wants some vaguely detailed battle reports I can try and put up what I remember amid the haze of beer, yet I'll just do the basics below.

Practise Vs Netherlands Skaven. He tried to cast 13th every turn, I shot lots and lots, 17-3. Basically all the dice worked for me.

G1 Vs New Zealand Skaven. My shooting didn't work all that well, he hid his bell and shoved forwards otherstuff which worked a bit better, but my combat was superior, 10-10.

G2 Vs Latvia OnG. He hid and I fired some indirect shots, destroyed both foot and hand, 12-8

G3 Vs Hungary OnG. He pushed hard and my war machines were pretty terrible, even blew up my flaming cannon when firing at trolls and didn't kill his last doom diver until turn 4. Luckily quarrellers and my Lord saved the day, 16-4

G4 Vs Switzerland DoC. After 3 games of auto hatred I finally didn't have it, luckily I didn't need it as he board edged and tried to cast magic whilst I indirected off his GD, 14-6

G5 Vs Ireland Dwarf. I got first turn and had better shooting, 13-7

G6 Vs Belgium WE. He made a few mistakes and I got to find out how nasty trueflight arrows were, 1 of his L4s going down a hole was a big boost. 13-7

So I ended up with 78 points and a pretty happy Dwarf. I had 3 games (2,4,5) go as expected, Game 1 I felt the luck was reasonably against me and the other 2 against people who made some errors. Unfortunately we never got to play any of the big guys this year so didn't really get tested.... yet that meant more beer time for me ;)
