So I'm planning on perhaps purchasing the Infinite Dungeon Corridor from think geek to mount in a carved out mountain (with some customization done to the doorway of course) to make a dwarf hold diorama.

It uses a trick with mirrors to make it look like the hall continues on forever when in reality it is only 3 inches thick. What do you guys think, could this work? Maybe add on some closeable gates in front of it.

 

 

 

Also looking for ideas how to make it more dwarf-y as wall as tips for making the mountain

 

If anyone knows of any sites that have dwarf looking scenery bits that would also be helpful.

Strikes me as a great idea. Just stick it in the classic poly-mountain.

Alternatively, create an underground cavern battlefield. That door at one end and a Skaven/Goblin tunnel entrance on the other side, so it looks like the point where the upper levels meet the overrun lower chambers.

and since the first 3 or so inches inside the doorway are reflected infinitely onwards, I could say, put some knot work, ancestor faces or runic tiles on the floor and/or walls and they will be repeated down the corridor.

Throren all that sounds nice but remember it's a mirror image so all the way back it's opposite from the firs couple,three you lay down.I'm sure some would work good but others not so good. It is a very nice piece. Gc

If you use a symmetrical celtic design then the reflection will be identical.

Looks great, and I'm sure it will look great in a diorama, but keep two things in mind:

 

One: the mirror trick requires internal lights, as on the pic, so there will be batteries, and you will need to allow access to it when you build it into a larger structure.

 

Two: I'm pretty sure the part that gets infinitely reflected is stuck between two mirrors (one you can also see through), so the reflected part is behind glass/mirror and I doubt you'll be able to add tiles there, unless it comes unassembled.

Exactly what I was thinking. Hit up the model train sites and insert it just like you would the mountain train pass.

So I'm having trouble finding any good mountain-ish terrain online that look good to put the doorway into. Anyone here know of any good ones or have tips for making my own?

They do have some premades at Hobby Lobby. Otherwise, shape styrofoam into what you want, flock and rock it, perhaps add some trees ... mmmmm Fjords are nice, I rather enjoyed designing those...

Regarding the mountain I'd go with what others above have said: Carve your own mountain out of styrofoam.

Get a sheet of house insulation foam, cut into pieces and shape with an electric foam cutter.  Dirt cheap and the best look overall by far.  I'm thinking about picking one up and building one myself
