Hello my fellow dawi. I have 16 miners but I want a unit of 20 miners, so the best way to get to a unit of 20 miners is by using a unit filler. But I lack the inspiration and ideas to make a good unit filler with an underground or miner theme. If you have any ideas, or miner unit fillers that you have made please share pictures with me or just share an idea of one so that I can begin constructing my unit filler.
Thanks

You could use the mine pony that comes with the miner set. That's what I used for mine.

http://www.bugmansbr...-project-album/ It's not very good, but it's simple and effective. It takes up a 100x40mm space, replacing a full 10 Miners!

i always liked the miners popping out the ground models. If you have spare bits you could try that.

Easiest thing is to take a 40mmx40mm base and make a kind of diorama with only two miners. Maybe have them killing a gobo. I've done this with zombies and ghouls and it works well (couple of ghouls chowing down on a person). This essentially turns 2 miners into 4.

You could also go with a pony and single handler on the square base. Glue some extra gear to the pony to haul around.

|One thing I'm going to do with my miners is put the free standing drill with one dwarf operator on a 40mm base. I think that should look OK,

This was done quite a while ago.  It takes up 9 spaces but also includes a spot for one miner.  Very easy, just a couple of pieces of slate, wooden ice cream sticks and some dwarf bits.

Somewhere around here is a picture of a miner unit that was still underground...

It was a bunch of empty bases fully finished with trees and stuff. Priceless...

I'd go with a version of Monks unit filler built to your own design preference. Gc

I keep mine small. Mainly for tournament points as it breaks up the look of the unit to add something unique rather than to bulk up a unit.

My hammerers have an Ogre hooker who 'escorts' them into battle. She takes up a 2x2 space:

For my warrior blocks (GW usually as they typically are run in horde formation) I have two different ones. The first is two more slayer pirates with a dragon on a 2x3 base. Pic is a little too washed out sadly:

The final one is another 2x2 small filler. My personal favorite featuring 5 time chaos cup champion, Bhudd Lightbringer. Also found a use for one of those awful BoSP plastics:

Special minis, like dwarf adventurers, slayer pirates, blood bowl minis or drunken dwarfs (there's a drunken miner you would probably want to talk a look at in the set) are excellent to use in a diorama and allows you to put in something you normally wouldn't be able to.. I still have a grudge pony to do something with...is there a friar Tuck style Dwarf anywhere?

Monk - that's a great little filler. Bonus points for the spot for the miner.

For other units, there's always the option of a statue - a 2x2 or 3x3 base podium with a warrior on top, all painted as stone. It's a bit cliche, but awesome. Why is this so awesome? I'll tell you why! Who has 20-40 quarrellers with shields, 20-40 with GW, and 20-40 'naked'? Not me! Sure you can do the usual 'fill the front rank as equiped and use generics for the other ranks', but you can instead have a variety of statues as fillers, and you can say to your opponent 'equiped as per the statue'. Done. I think statues are best made with metal minis for character, and because statues are 1-piece, like most metal minis.

At first my reaction was ... "Awwww, I don't want my guys hauling around a statue..." but, that's a really good idea. With a little color variation (or something) you could also tell unit A from its copy B on your list.

As someone else above said, the mine cart and pony would be good. You could get some ale barrels and stack then up inside it or convert a bunch of grobi as corpses to fill it up.

A quick fix could be a stack of mining equipment. The supplies that come on the cannon sprue would work well.
