Hey fellow beards!
This is my first attempt at an eighth addition list. Most of the ideas I've gotten so far are from reading other builds here. Please feel free to comment and/or criticize this build. I have just about every model available so switching out won't be a problem. It'll just give me a reason to finish painting more stuff lol.
My opponent will most likely be running something close to this:
Lvl 4 Supreme Sorceress
Lvl 2 Sorc
Dreadlord +GW
Lokhir Fellheart
30 Spearmen +FC
10 Executioners +FC
5 Cold-One Knights
5 Shades
1 Scourgerunner Chariot
This is the list I'm working on
Heroes (359pts)
Runesmith (128pts)
General; Shield
+Rune Of Spellbreaking
+Fiery Ring of Thori
+RoStone
Runesmith (63pts)
Shield
Thane (168pts)
Shield; BSB
+MRoGroth1i
Core (410pts)
Dwarf Warriors (200pts)
18 Shields; Musician; Standard
Dwarf Warriors (210pts)
19 Shields; Musician; Standard
Special (416pts)
Gyrocopter (80pts)
Ironbreakers (336pts)
Standard; Musician
+RoSlowness x2
Rare (315pts)
Organ Gun (170pts)
+RoAccuracy; RoForging
Organ Gun (145pts)
+RoAccuracy

Total: 1500

Strategy:
BSB with the Iron Breaker bus.
Rune Smiths with the Warrior blocks.
OG and Gyro handle the Executioners and Calvary. Their focus will be eliminating the Killing Blow units before they hit the shields.
Since I can only have 375 total points for Heroes, I could drop the Fiery Ring to give the (naked) RS a scroll of Breaking and maybe RoStone. Do you think it's worth it? I'm basically taking the second RS to deal with spell casters and add a little punch to the shield unit

For me I would go with the second spellbreaker on the other tube smith. Also for me shield warriors are going to crumble to easily without doing much in return. Longbeards with better ws and str can do more damage if you are liking for a pure shield list. This will probably end up with only two combat blocks though so that could be a problem.

You raise a good point about the shield not hitting hard enough. I chose shields since the DE have ASF, but I doubt it's enough of a punch like you said.
I'm going to work on this list a little bit and see if I can switch the shields to long beards.

I have a really nice 1500 CC list for fighting DE. Take it or leave it =).
Thane BSB-2X iron, mro gromril
Runesmith-stone, Spellbreaker, furnace
17 shield wars musician
17 shieldbeards musician
15 ironbreakers musician std 2x slowness
10 hammerers- Std, mus mro groth one eye
2x gyros
Organ gun- forging accuracy
Deploy the hammies where you can give everyone stubborn but they aren't susceptible to charges and what not. I put them behind the other units. Use the OG to blast his executioners and use the gyros to harass the "I Swear too much" out of his sorc bunker. If you can set it up to where the Ironbreakers take the scourge runner charge and they will completely destroy it the turn they counter charge. Shieldbeards can take the charge from cold one knights really really well. They are ultra resilient and you'll like win by CR or draw the fight allowing hammerers to maneuver to their flank. The Spearman will be easy VP. Match them up to any unit except hammerers and they will lose bad likely not even inflicting casualties. Put the OG between your breakers and warriors.
I play against almost the exact same list only replace the chariot with a hydra. My ironbreakers beat the hydra without taking a single wound. His cold ones only inflicted one wound on my shieldbeards. His Spearman died to gyros and fleeing and his corsairs/sorc bunker was forced into combat with my warriors. I got the charge and they dealt 18 attacks of which only 1 inflicted a wound and the shield wars dealt 10 in return wounding with 5 (had a gyro parked behind them for dangerous terrain but didn't matter) they broke and warriors ran them down and prepped for a flank on the knights next turn. It was a really easy game really. His magic wasn't all that bad (he took death) I scrolled one spell I think and it wasn't that important really. Otherwise his sorc was distracted by gyros or my units were in close combat quickly to avoid bad stuff. I was able to just dispel other stuff here and there and let a couple things through that weren't terrible.

Also I have to disagree with the shield wars comment earlier. Shield wars will dispatch DE much better than gw wars will. DE are only t3 pretty much across the board but they have high weapon skill and put out lots of attacks with reroll coming from murderous prowess. You are going to get hit alot. You need high armor save and parry to mitigate that. Str 4 on the charge will help make up for your lack of punch if you absolutely need it but str 3 on toughness 3 will win you the fight easily when you have a 4 up 6 ++ through combat res alone. GW dwarfs die in droves to elves with ASF. The high strength attacks are largely wasted against DE with the exception of the knights but that's what you have str 5 on the charge shieldbeards and an OG for. Also dive bombing them on the advance with a gyro can easily net you a wound or 2 which would cripple that unit pretty bad.

Thanks for the advice. I like your list a lot better. I was considering upgrading one unit to long beards and I like the addition of hammers.

I would rather have a standard than a musician.

Standard doesn't do much for me until higher point games. I like swift reform capabilities and for that you need a musician. There will be plenty of cr points generated without a standard and if something goes horribly wrong then that's more VP to the enemy. Just my opinion though.

You raise a lot of good points. I'm going to be testing this list out in two weeks and I'll post the results
