God dag nabbit *tosses a model through the room*

Oh hi there did not see you come in.

Nuff fluff :) Hello all,

So I am attempting to make thunderers with shields. Usually I just mention mine have shields but I wish to present this on the model. But I cannot find a good place to put them. I'm thinking of putting warrior shields on their backs but before I begin cutting the hands out of those shields I thought I'll ask advice.

So what shields should I use? Where do I put them? Pictures would be awesome.

I like to present my units with what they carry and hate that I never got these guys fixed so help me out!

Thanks to you all.

@Odius: that is awesome!

I usually just throw them on the left shoulder, like so:

I don't have a back view of these guys, but it looks pretty much like these longbeards:

Thanks, not my unit....found it on the webz.   I think affixing shields to the front of the movement tray would look awesome as a pavaise, though.

Easy and easy on the eyes.

Yeah I think the pic Odius shared is a pretty cool idea, maybe chuck in the stone barricade from the battle of skull pass too

Yeah, I've been planning a 'shield barricade' for my shooting units for a long time, but never got round to it. I'd go for a more temporary arrangement though, with shields part buried as if dug into the ground. If using this approach, you could mount the shields separately from the movement tray, so you could use the models with, or without shields as needed.

I have seen a couple of bits of artwork with the shild at around 30 degrees from vertical going between the floor and the ranged infantry waist. Its there to protect against incoming shooting, but easy to snatch up and ready your weapon after you stand and shoot.

I really like the picture Odius postd but if you want cheap shields then I like drawing-pin heads.  They are also very thin and convex that  stick to models backs without being obtrusive really well.

There are also the bucklers from the Ranger set. I believe the current box is the thunderer/quarrelers. I bought a bunch off Evilbay to use with the models I don't want to look encumbered. I have a bunch I plan on using with thunderers.

I also used them on my Hammerers a while back. You can see a pic of them here:

I like the Bretonian infantry shields, unfortunately they come with puny human arms attached.

Puny arms get removed fast :P hence they are puny.

Thanks everyone for the hints so far. I've been preparing different designs and I will place them in my army to see how the designs work out.

My biggest issue is its almost always going to be on the back. I wanted variation. The shield wall is getting a few test runs with different shields.
