Hey All,

New to this forum (in terms of actually being a member, been spying on ya'll for a few years now.)  and wanted to contribute some photos of the Karak Izon army I've been working on recently.  My local store has been running a WFB campaign with additional points available for those who paint a unit each week.  Needless to say I've been painting fast and furious, but as I'm the only dwarf player in my area, I'd like to get some feedback from some dwarven vets.

First up:  Slayers!

Their bases have actually gotten the snow treatment since this photo.

Gyrocopter:

And finally, work in progress:  Rangers!

They look great - What did you use for the bases?

I used some cork for the stone on the bases you can get sheets of it at <<insert art store here>>.  You can easily get that broken stone look with a few pieces, though I do recommend pinning any metal models through the cork and into the bottom of the base.

The snow is actually that new GW texture paint.  It's great stuff although you do need a pretty formidable brush to apply it.

Looking very nice. Love the slayer hanging onto the gyro, nice touch!

Thanks!  I'll try and put up some more pics this weekend.  My Gyrocopter is locked in the display case at my local store, but I'll try and get a better shot of it next week.

Working on Ironbreakers this week.  Finished my test figure.  Not sure what to do about the basing since their fluff leans more towards fighting in deep tunnels and the rest of my army is on snow bases.  Any notes, critiques, or suggestions welcome!

I think your Ironbreaker is your best model so far. Nice work! ;)

I'm not a fan of your bases. Not because they look bad, but I don't like put-them-all-on-a-big-rock idea. Less is more. ;)

Looking very cool. The beard looks amazingly warm and shiny!

For the bases: why not say the ironbreakers came to the surface to help their comrades? During the game, all units are in the same area, so it would make sense to do the bases in similar ways.

Yeah, I quickly realized that having everyone on a big rock won't work.  But I felt the rangers and the giant slayers were special enough to warrant rocks.  Rank and File guys aren't going to get big rocks. probably just snow, maybe some little rocks for flavor.  I'm working towards something for my Anvil of Doom too, not sure what/how much rock it'll get.
