Come on! Blue and White striped pants is a slayer classic. (grumblegrumble, youngsters, grumblegrumble)
I think it is a nice nod towards older dwarf players.

Thank you!  I agree completely.  Should we tell them that some of the really old slayer models wore chain?

I'm a little concerned over the 'magic' not 'runic' items. That could just be White Dwarf though, not necessarily Army book etc.

I keep thinking about this, buy I realized a key point... The special characters in the current Dwarf book typically have specific names for their magic items. Then in the description, it just notes to use certain runes. So if someone was just glancing at the equipment and just saw the names that could be what is going on.

Just a thought.

My main concern is how to integrate these new hammerers with the current metal models. Will they look ok with each other?

Such a horrible tease!  I will not pass judgment yet.  Not a fan of flatish helmets, and yes the beards look thin.  The almost look like they were made for the LOTR game.  Probably same sculpter.  The ART of Warhammer has changed a lot over the years.   Not sure how these will look next to older Marader metals.

I wonder if the flat beards is due to them having separate heads-torsos like AOW slayers. In theory this gives more variation but from an aesthetic pov I think it severely diminishes the model, indeed it is something AOW themselves veered away from with their latter dwarf kits.

The axes and shields the long beards had and their poses with them just looked alot better imo. I'd get these for the long beards and just keep using my converted hammerers. Just wait til next sat when the white dwarf comes out, then you'll see for yourself.

I do like very much those new hammerers, so if you think that longbeards are way better, they must be super epic!!

I'm not a big fan of the Hammerers' helmets. It is not so much the shape, but rather the 'girly' decorations on it.

But I'll wait on 360° pics and maybe if you paint the decoration and helmet in one colour it won't look as Elfish to me.

Slayer is not bad, but I have more as enough Slayers I think.

I got the okay, so when i get home i'll post up the pix. At work now

But you said they're on your phone. Why don't you just post them now? I smell poo.

That's cause my phone is poo. I had to send them to my wife and have her email them back to me. As promised

There's also a new named character releasing with them that looks awesome too. he had magic items (not runic) in the form of a weapon that gave him +1 to hit and asf and a shield that gave him immunity to killing blow

Apologies Neobuzzard. Oh me of little faith. Thanks for the pictures (even though I'm a little deflated at the sight of them). Is there any chance of some more peeks from your end, or is that them exhausted?

Call me crazy, I really like the new hammerers. Now this is what I call armour, and the swirly ornaments remind me of dwarven artwork of one or two particular artists.

Indeed. I like the middle model best. My main issues are that the roundish spiral patterns look pretty elf-like (the centre guy has more straight-lined patterns, which seems more dwarfish), the gems all over the armor and the faces, which I would try and paint to be armor masks. Other than that they look pretty nice, a lot like the artwork from the army book.

I need hammerers, don't have and don't like any of the metal models, so I'll probably be being these guys.

That is a lovely look. I'd buy a load of those. I'm really not seeing that in the new models though. That illustration looks mean. The models look static.

That's an Ironbreaker though, so there's still a chance the new Ironbreaker models will look like that.

I am not talking about posture or overall look, but specifically about the swirled ornaments such as on that ironbreaker's shield, shoulderpad and axe. Additionally the hammerers have the same scaled armour as the picture. What I was specifically talking about is that the artist who drew that picture has several other pictures (the pictures from the armybbok entries on rangers and hammerers might be his as well) that all have a particular style of armour ornamentation that is similar to that of the new hammerers.

Hm, I'm actually nor sure I like them all that much. I'll reserve judgement for now but I don't think they'll beat the classic models.

I'd rather they revamp the Warriors.

Agreed, and those designs are also still inspired by Celtic art (a complaint I've seen popping up here and there), probably inspired by the triple spiral. Curvy, organic lines were far from uncommon in Celtic art in general as well.

Interesting thought. I wonder if the figure sculptor has tried  to catch design elements from Celtic art; flattened facial structure/cheekbones, spiral wound decoration on armour with lamellar skirtings. A touch of the familiar with reference/homage to medieval bible illustration as well..?

Perhaps I'm seeing what I want in this; but I'm warming to them.
