Hello everybody - thank you all for all the kind words and messages.

I'm really glad to be back painting my dwarfs again, and (as you may have noticed from my sig.), I've got quite a backlog to clear - anyway, onwards and upwards, and all that...

I've just gone and ordered the new 4 Black Chapel dwarfs now, so I'll be posting them up ASAP.

Many thanks everyone, and all best,

David.

David - those dwarfs are beautifully painted - truly! I'm a big fan of blackchapelminis though I have none myself - very excited for the northern dwarf releases...  :o

Also saw they are showing your painting on their website!! Congrats!

Looking forward to the four ones you're working on!!!

Hello everybody. It's been a *loooooong* time since I added any updates from my dwarfs, but here are some much delayed pictures. Many of these are re-posts from various contests, but a few (e.g. the whole longbeard unit) are new(ish).

Anyway, friendly criticism and feedback eagerly sought!

Oh, and enough hammerers to strike terror into the hearts of pretty much anything (there are 63 of them including 3 command groups). I didn't get them out of the storage tray due to their somewhat repetitive nature & the variable quality of the painting (I've had some of these boys for years, and though  I was very proud of them at the time, I've got better since). I haven't got them all out for a game in years (certainly before they were all painted), but they do form a good central block  for the rest of the army to form up around:

Nice! Especially the old longbeards. Is the banner made from paper?

Many thanks!

yes, the banner is made of paper - it's a painted photocopy from the 4th edition dwarf army book, so I can hardly claim that much credit for it I'm afraid.

The old banners do have a certain charm to them

Very true, very true.

I've just updated my non-dwarf project log too with a nice oldhammer Orc banner which I'm very pleased with.

Aye, the banner looks nice. Ive started with a Dogs of War army recently. So far ive painted a mercenary captain called El Don Bigote (the freelance knight from Mordheim), a paymaster on foot named Uccello "The Greedy" (Mydas the Mean model), 8 Vesperos Vendetta and 5 Marksmen of Miragliano (command group plus 2 troopers). I still have another 11 marksmen, 1 hireling wizard, 5 Volands Venators, 20 Long Drongs Slayer Pirates and a halfling hot pot to go. And boy is it daunting

What a fantastic throng! The IB's look lovely especially that banner but it's the longbeard's that will bring a tear to the eye of any old Dawi!
Don't recognise the mini on the left hand side (looking at the unit) in the 2nd ranK. Holding a flail I think - is he GWS?
Great work

Many thanks for all the kind comments everyone. It's really very much appreciated, and does help serve as motivation to get stuff finished.

Salokin, I'm sorry for the slowness of reply. The Longbeard with a flail is a Marauder/GW longbeard, just not one of the more commonly appearing sculpts (for some reason sculpts 5 & 8 are relatively rare, and 2 is  also less common than the other 5).

Hello again  everybody after a very long hiatus. I haven't posted on here in  ages, but I've managed to get a fairly sizeable update done over the last few months.

I've been consciously trying to get more WS4, S3 dwarfs in the army, and I do rather like the 6th ed plastics - and after a while collecting these, I've finally got them all done (though  I  am on the lookout for even more....):

Also (and this is going back a bit - these were finished months ago, and previously appeared in a painting contest), I got my slayers sorted out by last summer - these are about 6 years worth of (variably well painted) slayers in one terrifying blob:

I loved those plastics, and your paint job makes them look even better. The rocks and grass are perfect too.
I’ve never been too big a fan of slayers, but that unit is one giant bunch of crazy I’d hate to meet on the battlefield!
I like the Stone Thrower best of all though *cough*cough*

Thanks guys - very much appreciated.

And Thunderforge - never fear the stone thrower is next up on the painting table.

I'll be entering an extension to my artillery  train for the next unit painting contest (whenever that will be...), and here's the pre-paint photo:

gallery_13812_1212_1394139.jpg

And there we'll find some rather spiffy looking stone throwers waiting for some paint....

Hey Alisk,

good to see some progress here, you made me dig out another unit of miners that I was painting with the GW contrast paints to see if I could paint these up quicker. So far it seems to go well but I still get distracted by shiny 40k stuff and real life.

cheers,

Dourin

Only thing better than seeing fully painted dwarven units is seeing beautifully painted dwarven units. The freehand on banners is really nice.

Those are some good looking warriors you got there. I also have a soft spot for them since they are the first models I ever painted.
