i've always loved dwarfs,

thats why as soon as i started warhammer there was no question as to what team i wanted to play.

ever since i was little and read the hobbit and played computer games on the atari st i always choose dwarfs when i got a chioce, read lotr etc just loved dwarfs non stop, played dwarfs in blood bowl etc, started getting into warhammer into the third edition when my dad played it in the late 80's anyway after a bit of a break i got back into it and i dotn know much about this new 8th edition such a difference to the third edition i used to play haha

the more i get into them and read about them the more im becoming obsessed

i recently went on ebay and bought a few dwarf novels, (the official "dwarfs" one from the black library)

buying old and rare dwarf figures on ebay, growing my beard! drinking more ale lol.

pretty much reading or researching or painting or collecting anything i can on dwarfs.

its starting to get unhealthy!

are you guys as obssessed then me?

how obsessed are you??

I have long hair, a beard, I'm often grumpy and unsociable, I'm stubborn, I like drinking ale and I never have enough gold. So no, I'm not obsessed at all...

EDIT:

I've loved Dwarfs since before I knew about warhammer. Every character in D&D or MMO's was always a Dwarf. When my friend put my on to Warhammer (back in 5th Ed.) there was also no question about which army I would collect.

To the point where any Elgi player starts talking rubbish about fluff I HAVE to correct them. Even though I know fluff written from an Elgi perspective often leaves out Dawi involvement, stuff like "Any boxed set with WoC in should have Elves as the counter army as it was us who single handedly stopped the Chaos incursions" LIES DAMN ELGI LIES!!! The arrogance!! ;)

dwarfs remind me of my own countrymen so much (belgians :P )
Beer, good food, stubborn as hell,... ah belgium.

Good craftsmanship (Minerva cars were unbreakable).
we make weapons, so that is one of our things too.

But I love the Belgian ale. I myself have a rather lenghty goatee as well (a chin beard), so I am dwarf-like. Who doesn't like Gimli, instead of those peter pan gay elves?

Hailing from the northern reaches of england I've always seen myself as more dwarf rather than anything else. I've got mining in my blood, even worked down a pit for a few months when I left school, naturally i've got a beard and measure many factors in life by the pint. I suppose you're likely to find a running trend amongst dawi players as such. Maybe we're all born to play dwarfs?

I know many folk who switch between their warhammer armies like changing their socks, without ever having a 'main army'. But in the majority of dwarf players i've encountered they always see dwarfs as their one true lovee. They are too characterful to be anything else other than an obsession, if you ask me.

Besides, you walk around Barnsley town centre and tell me that dawi are just fantasy creatures ;)

I definitely think Dwarf players have a natural affinity with them and I dare say most of us share many characteristics, good and bad ;) My only other army is gobbos, as without them, I'd have no gobbos to kill and my slayers couldn't seek death by Troll! Who am I to rob them of their chance of redemption? ;) There's a very dark part of my soul that contemplated (just for a second) a small Elgi force for the same reason, but I just couldn't stomach having them on my shelf, let alone spend hours of my time painting them. :P

In 40K I've collected Orks, Chaos, Marines, Dark Eldar, Necrons, Space Wolves, Eldar, Cultists and Imperial Guard, until I gave up and started converting my own Squats.

In Fantasy I don't think I've even bought any non-dwarf models...!

My wife comments that I seem to really like short hairy men. Dwarfs for WHFB, Dwarfs for the Warhammer Invasion cardgame, Dwarf Fortress computer game, GW Dwarf novels, including all the Gotrek & Felix novels, etc.

I used to love Dwarfs, but after waiting for the 8th edition book and the rise of the evil chaos dwarfs, I made a change. I played dwarfs for 12 years , and have closed that door :prankster2:

Dawi Zharr is up to par

I'm 6'5" tall, but I do have a beard! :) I wouldn't call myself obsessed with Dwarfs, but I can't imagine playing a different army seriously. :) I have some ogres, and I will definitely have fun painting them and playing with them, but I'll probably always be a dwarf guy.

Chaos Dwarfs are for rich kids.

I've had an affinity for dwarfs ever since reading The Hobbit as a child; I've always strongly identified with the dwarfish mindset. My obsession has only gotten worse after starting a Warhammer dwarf army. Now I can't stop collecting them. I've got more models than I'll ever field in a battle, but I just...can't...stop.
