Im sure whatever you decide to paint it'll come out fantastic as usual, keep up the great work, Gc

The plan is to try and batch paint 15 dragon company RnF. I normally paint 1-3 models at a time so this could become a challenge for me but I'd love to get the unit painted up and added to the throng so fingers crossed.

That's a superb looking unit of wolf riders!

Looking forward to the Dragon Company, good luck.

What a great Wolf Rider unit. As others have said, the bases really draw the eye. I do quite like the movement tray and it really adds to the feel of these goblins charging through the deep (or road surface). Very cool.

Back to gobbos and finally finished the wolf riders. Had to re-do some of the older painted models as I realised the bright colours on some just wasn't working for me, saying that I did keep the red just to break up the dullness of the whole unit. The spear and bow rows got the same base treatment (pillars) but for the hand weapon row I went for something different rusted equipment and a skull.

Anyway hope you like.

Finally overhead shot to try and show the bases.

Hi Dazza

Just wanted go pick your brain if I may. Which catelogue entry did you use to collect the wulfboyz? The most I can find listed are 15 but you have 21....with no duplicates! Any chance you can point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hi Karakvarn

I was surprised to get an email saying someone had posted on this old thread !

Basically you will find a lot of the goblin range from that period have nicely spread legs which make them very easy to be used as riders. If I remember it was archer versions I needed so at least two of those are just de-tabbed archers the one with blonde mustache and next to him with hat on are definitely that. The only real issue is musician and for that I used a figure from the snotling pump wagon he is the perfect size and fit.

If you need some let me know as I have a whole box of goblins from that era and I have been thinking of selling them as I will never sadly get time to paint them

Ok lets revive this little bugger !! I've finally got the bug back and have been feverishly collecting a band of orc's. It started off just wanting to paint a few but has quickly turned into a lot LOL, on last count I've managed to get my hands on just under eighty ! all of them from that golden period of the late 80's.

Anyway here's the first eight, I've gone for a much brighter skintone compared to the goblins I painted way back and the plan would be to re-do them at a later stage to match this new version.

And here's the first two with added shields

Just another 20 to paint up and I'll have my first painted unit.

What are those filthy Orcs doing in our pretty brewery!

Anyways, i guess for greenskin standards they look pretty good.

Keep them in place while i gather the throng to get rid of them *grumble* *grumble*.

So completed the rest of the shields I need for the first rank of what will become a 28 strong unit. I've tried to mix up the colours and designs of the shields so work better than others but i'm happy with the final outcome

Same to you Iain ! Glad you like the shields as it took a lot of trail and error to get them right. The plan is to add some different designs as seen in early WD's such as skulls and other orcy things !

So its been a long time since an update this is due to me breaking my arm and being in a cast for 2 months ! Luckily I'm now out of it and finally able to get back to painting. So here's more of my first orc unit, only 6 more plus command to go LOL

Rugluds! Nice to see them again and very well painted as well. They were part of my first little collection of GW miniatures (along with the "man mangler"). I later on traded all my greenskins to a friend for a nice collection of chaos dwarfs and undead from the same era.

@Thorvald the relentless: I can assure you they were a serious threat for my poor skellies back in the days;). For a long time they were the only orcs that had any access to heavy armor and crossbows as well (plastic ones strapped to the back)
