No offense but calling GW is about as effective as asking people on here. By that I mean you get an opinon but until an FAQ is written then it has no real standing.

However, during the first roll, if it lands on the cannon by passing the wall then it counts as hitting the cannon.
So you would have to aim to fire up and over the obstacle initially, hitting a cannon directly behind it meaning you'd need a mortar in order to get a steep enough angle to get the ball up and back down again. Surely a cannon ball would be at too shallow an angle and would hit the obstacle and stop regardless of where the initial aiming point was?
I like the it's a stone wall rule. 1st shot stopped, entrenchment destroyed, 2nd shot straight through, mangled cannon...

@Athelstan
When firing the cannon you pick your target point and roll the artillery die. The cannonball lands a number of inches equal to the die roll past that target point. Anything between the cannon and where the cannonball lands is NOT hit. Then your roll the artillery die again, and that is how far the ball bounces, anything between the point where the ball lands and where it bounces to IS hit.
So if a cannonball lands on the other side of a wall (in this case straight on top of the entrenched war machine) then it does not hit the wall, so the wall provides no protection.
