This is my problem, I have alot of the dwarves from Westwind and the celtic and germanic infantry dwarves are bare chested with shieids (100 of these), I also have 50 calvery of the same type and armor riding wolves. I have 40 of there Roman dwarves with large shield H armor and sword, and 10 of sciborbears with roman dwarf riders.I also have from GW 3 bolt throwers,2 cannon,1 grudge thrower all of them are mounted on wagons pulled by wolves.I have more but you see my problem.
My army does not match in anyway the Dwarf book
This is my idea, aroving Engeneer/Miner clan that move from mineral deposite to mineral deposite in large wagons pulled by mastadons and stonehorns . Guarded by wolfriders and bear riders.I have not built the wagons yet or made the rules but thats my plan suggestions needed

1 ) Dwarf Clan payed to protect caravans
2 ) Norse Dwarves
3 ) Slayer themed
4 ) A dwarf clan sworn allegiance to a human tribe and thus living on the surface instead of underground.
5 ) Rangers out to avenge a grudge.

oh dear you had to ask:
i What about strip mining ?? this would let you use your untrained miner ( Sexy shirtless dwarfs)look like a Hired for proffit dwarfs.. no need for armor clanking miners . .
they could use hydrological mining Power full water to take down hill side to look for ore. this would also give you a rabble looking army that has to guard there own camp .. since they are out for proffet you can mix and match this group..
then you can use all types of cart and stuff to haul off the ore
and use some ( cough cough ) some of the chaos dwarf stuffas minning for ore stuff too

Hmmmmnn...
If you're looking for ideas that may help fit your Throng into a "legit" fluff exercise for GW, I'd be tempted to go with something like this:
Your throng is from the Norse realms (better explains the wolves etc - pragmatic necessity as well as the bare chests)
Your Lord/Hero has an unfulfilled clan oath to retrieve an ancestor heirloom lost to a nefarious (INSERT RACE) Lord, centuries before.
The clan travels from lost Hold to lost Hold, in the Norse realms, chasing any rumour as to it's current location.
During these forages in lost Holds a number of heirloom items have been found, the best of which are allocated to your elites (the Romanesque armour can be explained away as 'Golden Era' armour found amongst a lost Hold's treasure hordes unsoiled by Grobi etc.
Engineering items are prone to beaking down (even Dawi ones!) in the harsh cold of the Norse mountain ranges, so pack animals are required.
Something like that allows plenty of room for narrative for campaigns with friends as well as a unique theme to your own Throng. Plus, you can keep a fixed location for the clan, it's just that your throng is nearly constantly moving, ever closer to fulfilling the oath
Or go with whatever you want ofc

Norce dwarf dwarfs How predictable
If you want that a settle with a Bland army
I would say a mining colony in the uzkulak and old forgot land of the orphans
As the high pass is your direct trade with the Kislev where you trade for bears since they are the Bear riding Humans
Wolves and bear are no longer in the norcia
In the old land of the orphans the old Hobgoblin would of breaded dire wolves for there army and they be a bundent
stout wolves that could hold a dwarf not norce dwarf that are half starved
Plus there would be old ad-banned weapons and mining equipment left over from the chaos dwarf
you can use your cd canon the magma one as a hydro canon :0
And your chaos dwarf guys can be imposter to give it a look like a slave mining camp
Ta da!!

Easy there Kera I get your point, your idea is a better fit,but looking for a lost relic is brilliant

Hmmn, indeed. It's not a competition Kera, just throwing out ideas to try and help Lord Bear get his creative juices flowing... He can pick and chose, or diregard as he sees fit. Maybe it's the way you wrote it, but you seem affronted by my post to offer such a negative response, whether that was intended or not. Nothing bland about Norse Dwarfs either
I like your Kislev idea, nicely explains away the bear trades. I had no idea there weren't wolves in Norsca. When I was a beardling, all Norse Dwarfs went around in bear and wolfskins. Not so sure about the CD disguises though, in strict fluff terms at least. A proper Dawi wold sooner give up drinking than be mistaken for a follower of Hashut.

It's easy,I use wisiwig ,I buy the miniatures I like then paint them and put them on the table. You don't have to use gw only models it's just not true,if you play a tournament in a gw store you might have a problem. But if your nice and show your army is underpowered not overpowered ,most of the time you get to play. Also the gw store closes when the mall closes the store I go to closes at 2 am on Fridays and saturdays and carrys all types of miniatures, I buy all types of miniatures, why would a store owner where I spend a lot of money, tell me no.
I have had a fanboy try to tell me no once or twice, but when it was pointed out that I built all the terrain and tables he was using they see the light. Now at games day atGW you have a point, but that's once a year and I would not expect them to allow me to play to play non gw stuff.
I have been playing warhammer for over 30 years when the points where written in a notebook and you built your own army with fluff and all! Then ravening Hordes cameout and it became streamlined .I have GW dwarves with spears and swords, fimir , zoats etc. So yes I use non gw miniatures if I want and when I lived close to a gw store I would play GW empire dwarves just to make the managers ears red
Love Jon
