Oh, my. That is absolutely lovely. How is that rock on the bases being done? I would like to shamelessly rip that off.

Be my guest, I stole the idea myself anyway ;). It was from an article about making bases for models in Warhammer Quest if I`m not mistaken. Basicaly you just get plasticard and cut the edges to make them look like chipped stone. Really fast and easy.

As for the golds on the shields I used black undercoat, then Tin Bitz as base which I highlighted with several layers of shining gold. Then I just covered the edges with Burnished Gold and voila!

The beards are done the same way generally. No washes, no specialized paints, just black undercoat and three to four layers of a chosen colour, each time a brighter shade. The higher elements finished with near white.

Thank you for the comments, they really motivate me to keep going despite still having a ton of unpainted models.

Superb !
I had the same problem as you : should I repaint the old army I have, since i do paint betterave now ?
My solution was to rebuy the minis I got, and to keep the old ones as a "reminder" and a proof of my painting evolution.

Nice army, i love it
Nice longbeards. Personnaly, I keep them for when I paint better ^^

Aaaaand they`re done!

The most iconic and beautiful unit of Dwarfs is finnished. I was hoping for this day ever since I saw them in the armybook.

Here they are:

You've really done those classic dwarfs a great service with your paintjob. A good job of mixing up the beard colours to break up the fact their all grey/white.
