Hello everyone!

I`ve been playing Warhammer for about ten years now, and although my army has grown to more or less 7K over this time a large part of it remains unpainted or is in dire need of repainting. For some time now I`ve been trying to make my army look proud and glorious as it should be, so I decided to share the results of this struggle with you which will hopefully encourage me to paint more :paint3:

I`ll start with my unit of Longbeards. I Started painting these guys over 4 years ago and it took me a long time to finnish the unit. Then the 8th eddition arrived and they needed to be rearmed since they obviously had shields. When they had their weapons and shields removed I decided that they need to look more like proper Longbeards and made them scale armour.
Here they are:

After that I thought that since there are well over 300 models still to do, it might be a good Idea to paint the ones that play important roles in the army. I`ll post them later.

What do you think?

I really like how you appreciate another Dwarf`s hard work here at the Brewery :)

OK, now it`s time for something more serious. Since I really like the idea of unit fillers I wanted to make one myself since they became more popular. For this I used an old Giant model. He was supposed to serve as a Gyrocopter`s base, I imagined a Slayer jumping of it onto the Giant`s back, rope in one hand and an axe in the other, cutting into his neck... But that would be hard to transport, so he just got cut to pieces on the ground, the traditional way!

Here`s some pics of the WIPs:

And the paint job WIP: His trousers were supposed to be shreded standards, I was going to paint a freehand on each part so you could tell which army it was from, but my lack of skill made it to hard.

And the Giant Slayer-to-be:

Don`t actually have enough Slayers to show him with, but I hope that will change soon enough.

What do you make of it?

Very nice work.

The sculpting on the legs and arms looks very natural.
I love the multi-colored pants, reminds me of the days these giants where the only ones.
The slayer is very nice as well. The jewels are really crisp. One really small comment would be to try and make the blue on the rune-axe "fade" a bit more, atm it seems to be comming to an abrupt end.

Very solid job. A realy interesting unit filler.

If to look at a downside, only thing which you could consider a problem/deficiency is its impracticability.

I am looking forward to see it ranked with a band of rough slayers around it! :dirol:

Great stuff! Agree on the rune glow comments re fade. Some thinned blue at the edges would help :)

Awesome filler! puts the one i use ( a collection of stacked up equipement) to shame, only thing is how big is ? Just it needs to represent a number of indidividual wounds on the unit/

Thanks for the comments. I must admit that size was an issue here, since presently a slayer unit can only contain up to 30 models, I didnt` want the filler to dominate it and put it only on a 60 by 40mm base while the giant would fit much better on a 60 by 90mm one. Still, it is possible to rank up models around it, the most troublesome places to put models is the two spaces behind the head, but I believe there`s hardly anything impractical about it.

As far as painting is concerned, you`re probably right about the glowing axe, but that was my first attempt at something like that, so I`m just glad you are able to interpret it correctly :) .
