Yes indeed, we have many, many grudges against the grobi.

We can always invite the 2 friendly elves to come play, perhaps they might like to have a go with a dawi throng ?

My personal preference to date is the Chaos Incursion scenario. More so if WoC has an update within 12 months.

So are there some famous grand battles we can refight, my AB mentions the chaos incursion and the dwarfs and elves meeting but not a great deal of detail.

Is there some literature about the incursion with some details about this time of upheavel ?

Maybe that's a good thing. If there's not much detail, we have much more freedom when planning the battle and can let our imaginations do the work.

If we're doing a rematch then I think our WM will be limited again, maybe even to the point where we may not have any. I'm unsure when dwarfs developed bolt throwers and stone throwers.

Stone throwers and Bolt throwers were developed before the first war against Chaos. Grungni, Valaya and Grimnir were not idle while the Dwarfs prepared to seal themselves inside their mountain strongholds. They taught their people the craft of war, the forging of weapons and armour as well as warmachines so that when the gates opened, the Dwarfs flood out into the world, ready to take back the surface and kill all mutant spawn.

So stone throwers and Bolt throwers were well known even back then.

I've been musing on this for a fair while now.

Setting the next Grudge Match up properly will take a fair while. Ideally we'd have some form of Blog set up to aid in promotion.

The hindrance we'll find in kicking this off will be inspiring our foes - we'll need a well populated fansite with enough UK/EU players. For me, there's 3 options of merit:

1. With Blackfire Pass being launched in Dec, it may be fun to play out the scenarios in the books - OnG are pretty popular armies and Empire have a new AB. We'd also have the advantage of lots of scope for some awesome OnG/Dwarf scenery as we work to recreate BFP.

2. If the rumours of Chaos getting a revamp this year are true, playing out the Chaos Incursion would also be awesome. Massively popular as always, I'm pretty sure they'll get a load more "ooh shiny" players. HElf + Dawi have some good synergies and this should prove to be a close fight.

3. WOTB 2.0 with a lot more prep *cough* ;)

I dislike the VC fluff in the new VC AB so much I'm not sure I want to play it, but there would be an oportunity for OnG/VC vs. HE/D, which might be fun...

As an idea of dates, I'd initially suggest the Easter break. I'm unsure as to whether 1 or 2 days for the event itself...

Can people let me know if they're interested in helping organise it? Ideally need rule geeks and a few creative types :)

I'm up for helping with the rules and/or the creativity, but I feel what is needed most is some kind of structure of how we go about deciding things. Even for this years grudge match, there was a lot of input but in my view, a lacking of a final goal of what we wanted it to be like made it hard to come up with a final consistent 'rulespack'.

If that makes sense.

Anyway, I'm up for helping.

Great stuff - I'm wondering whether we set a scenario to achieve "something" is the way to go.

Well, it's just one possible way of doing things. It might just be that with you being away for a while around the christmas & new years period, people wanted to move forward with the event but were afraid to make any definite decisions since this was for the most part your project. :)

I'm better at kicking things off than finishing them :) You have seen my painting blog, right? ;)

I was never adverse to any help the last time around, I tried to promote others taking ownership of elements with comments such as "I'm really new to 8th Ed, I'll let you guys discuss the finer points" etc - it just never seemed to sink in :)

I wasn't doing this for any kind of glory hunting. I was keen to be involved in a huge scale battle, wanted to see Warhammer World and give back something to this community. I took on waaaaaaaay too much though between this and the mini, it was very much like a 2nd job and left no room for me to paint etc.

So, long story short, I'm keen to stay involved for a bit of an enthusiastic push, but would very much welcome buy-in and input from gaming veterans :)

Seeing we had quite a few people pitch in, I'm sure there are enough veterans here that will want to accomodate. :)

Well I,m not really a rules geek, having only played a handful of games with these new rules, but I would be willing to step up to something creative,
scenery making that sort of thing, I enjoyed making the scenery stuff that I,d intended to bring to this years grudgematch and quite possibly it could be adapted to whatever scenario is picked for the next one. New paint job for the fortress walls would not be a problem, or whole new set of scenic stuff would be fun to create.
Have to get the thinking cap on.
Easter time I think would be a very good time not possibly Easter day itself but certainly sometime within that school holiday period would be a god idea.

I would like to volunteer to help out. I'd still like to take part, but I'll help as much as I can. I have a fairly good grasp of the rules, and have played quite a few games this edition.

I'm pretty late to this party as my current career just does not let me plan that far in advance. However - a career change is due in short order as I want to spend more time at home now with my wife, so I can, at last, start planning more than 2 months ahead!

I'd very much like to be involved with this! I don't have a massive experience of the rules so the rules geek position is out, but I'd be very happy to give some fluff/scenarios a go. Plus, I'm not far from Nottingham so I'd be able to be up there fairly early to help with the setting up etc if that would be helpful to you.

Let me know mate, this has got me itching to do some more hobby!

I would gladly help too, if my brain stands up to the challenge :), would be really great to attend, but from germany to england with an big army isn`t that easy and neither cheap, but I will try to make it.

So what is the consensus of opinion then, what,s it gonna be . A re fight of the War of the Beard, a epic battle versus our hated enemy of Urk and Grobi, or some Chaos Incursion scenario.

Yes I realise that its July and it was thought to take place around Easter next year might be a good idea but I thought as this topic has gone a bit quiet I thought I,d stir it up a bit.
Besides early planning would help for the creation of specific scenery construction and gathering of materials.

So it would seem the choices are
1) Orc & goblins possible relating to Black fire P"I swear too much",
2) Some kinda Chaos Incursion epic confrontation,
3) a WotB refight / part 2,
4) or something else.

So......?

Just a thought, but since is seems that BFP is coming this Xmas, it would seem that it would be a good choice since there will be so much new stuff for it and the fact that Easter is a good enough distance from the release for people to get some of the new stuff painted up.

Just a thought.
