I apologise, I had always assumed bears to be slower than horses. I suppose the movement is fine where it is.

You need to know two rates of speeding- sprinting in combat, and marching over time.

I can buy that a bear might be faster in a sprint, but marching?

11. How fast can a grizzly run?
Though grizzlies may look slow and clumsy, they can run as fast as a horse for short distances and are quite sure-footed. They have been clocked at 30 to 35 miles per hour which is much faster than the world record for humans in the 100 yard dash.

Can't find out any information on marching speed, other then they are natural sprinters and rarely run more then 100 feet or so.

M4-5-6 would be more appropriate combined with swiftstride.

Or maybe make them M8 but that cant march.. so that they would still be good for charges but be more dwarfish in normal movement.. same thing Gw should hae done to dwarfs... Dwarfs are known as good short-distance chargers but not good at running for long time so makin them with longer M but unable to march would have been mor apropriate if u ask me.
With march they move by 6 but they only chrage with 3+2d6 and thats really sad.

im against dwarf cavalry, but i have a few ideas...

i think they need some sort of special rules. maybe bump them up a few points and give them impact hits (1)? and i think most creatures would be scared when a bear charges them...maybe they should cause fear?

I agree on the fear, being charged by one and all. But I think it should be WS of 4 or 5, they are really deadly up close.

I am producing free game rules for my own battle game for another website and and the first ever dwarf thing was bear cavalry.

Though It's a good Idea in the GW setting dwarfs just don't do cavalry.

Hi everyone

These are my bear riders from scibor miniatures,I have 11 of them 5 painted. I ve been on the chaos dwarf site for awhile but since I just finished buying and painting all the FW chaos dwarves,I started back on building my as yet unnamed dwarf hold

So what do you think

They look great! Love the idea ov having bears as cav. I have one these bears as well and use him in storm of magic games as an ancestor come back to life. I use a greator demon stats for the model.

Thanks! Also for SoM I use the Doom speakers as spawn, just put them on bigger bases and the demon slayer model on a demon head as a greater spawn. The random attackes seems to fit them.
