Edit May 2012

Hello dear Reader, if you want to read the boring prelude, just read on, if not just jump to page 3, its where the real fun begins ;)
http://www.bugmansbr...ip/page__st__40

I started Warhammer in 1999, my first Army were Dwarfs and it was love at the first sight. Today I own a bunch of armies, 40K , Fantasy and LotR, Specialist games too. Most of them are painted. In Warhammer Fantasy, Dwarfs remained my favourite army, BUT THE ONLY ONE NOT PAINTED.

This hast to change, thats why I am here - my holy mission.

This is what I managed to paint since 1999:

DSCF2477-1.jpg

DSCF2478-1.jpg

DSCF2479-1.jpg

SAD, isn`t it ?! I mean 11 models, not a single one ever finished.

From here I will start, as you can see they saw better times. Some I will repaint some I will just touch up. New bases and painting hundreds of Dwarfs waiting in my shelf many not even primed. I will post my progress here because i hope it will motivate me and people can give me advise for my painting.

Cheers to all and wish me luck.

I like the brown and green colour scheme :) Very militaristic!

I thought from your PM earlier that you have no OOP models and an all plastic army... The first pic has some classic Marauder Thunderers! Great models :)

Thanks Alebelly first reply and its frome somebody whose Throng i really admire.

Militaristic? Damn , I was aiming for laid back natural colors. Everyday Dwarfs who are able to defend themselves if forced to.

No no, I have all the current metals (Too many, 30 hammers all looking the same for example :-( ), newer metal thunderers and than those 6 classic marauder thunderers (and 2 funny plastic Dwarfs I don`t know). I have to say I am not sure what is considered marauder and what not, I was going everything I don`t know - Marauder .

But then i came here and saw all those really old models, really inspiring. I am not really sure how to start collecting them since I am a little bit scared of Ebay, had some bad experiences with my OOP comic collection.

Just for the giggles, one of my Clanwarrior units, and believe me there are many more were they came from.

Grimnir give me strength for my big quest.

Hey Theatralic, man it's good to finally see your models!!It's pretty darn awesome to know that you've been collecting for so many years. It's also good to know there will be some variety in your collection as well! As far as the Hammerers go.. if you want to change it up a bit let me know, I'd be happy to fund your Hammerer hunt while I increase my throng for a discounted price :P

Seriously though, I do like your green & brown scheme. Makes me think of how all our Holds are being overrun and forcing us outside with these dirty Manlings and such. Makes me think that we, your throng, are wearing NATURAL colors such as nature - IE: Trees, leafs, grass, etc. It's a very natural look and feel to it. Really do like it.

I don't think it's to military, because it's not a solid camo look :P

PS: My only request is that you change that dirty Avatar to at LEAST something w/ a beard LOL

Thanks Ursun, that was my aim, that earthbound look. as for the hammerers sadly I will need them because I am only allowed to use original models in the local store , but I will get some other manufacturer hammerers for at home.

Well the ones you have painted so far look very nice so if you can keep up that standard across the rest of your army I think you'll end up with something very impressive.

I have just finished gluing together 20 Mantic ShieldBreakers (all GW Hammerers) and by adding them amongst my 20 traditional (all the same pose) Hammerers I think I can break up that unnatural look. Now I just have to try and match the paints. With all your random minis you should have a fantastic looking throng!!!

@ Thane Will :-P

Since I am darkskinned myself every army of mine is "multicultural" painted :lol2: . I wouldn`t paint them that way again now, just because I am not sure about that really bright orange and the blue warpainting . I will paint up a unit of Warriors now and i hope they will come out nicely .

the best part about it is that african skin is 1000% easier to paint than "white" skin

Heh, I think they look really good. The blue tattoo compliments the bright orange hair and the dark skin looks really cool. I like them!

I really like the gold effects on that last daemonslayer. And it's nice to see another skin tone for a change. ;)

Hey Brothers and Kera ;-)

I am painting a Dragon Slayer at the moment and I am not Happy, I used Elf Flesh for the last Highlight, now the transition from Dwarf Flesh to Elf Flesh doesn`t look smooth enough to me, so what should I do:

Use watered down Dwarf flesh for glazing
or
wash with Ogryn felsh or gryphonne Sepia
or
More Elf Flesh and make the areas bigger to cover some of the Dwarf Flesh
or
simply leave it like it is

I am not a good painter but I am trying to become better, so any advice you can give would be nice.

Edit June 2012: deleted the pics, to big, annoying while reading

Cheers T

mix dwarf flesh with elven flesh and thin it down.
The difference between the two colors is too big to make smooth transitions.

Take very little on the brush and glaze away.
