Just a thought but rather a dwarf vs dwarf, would it be an idea to list armies so perhaps we could do dwarfs vs O+G and maybe make a fluff push for/against us.

That's kinda what I was pushing for in some of my posts above. We either have the option of asking some Bugman forum members to bring their non-dwarf armies, or send out an invitation to a well established OnG (as an example) forum for a match up. I'd like to recreate a famous fluff battle if possibleJust a thought but rather a dwarf vs dwarf, would it be an idea to list armies so perhaps we could do dwarfs vs O+G and maybe make a fluff push for/against us.
Personally I'd like a grudge match against OnG, Skaven, HElf or Chaos, mainly due to all the best stories being about these match ups fro our fluff perspective
Grudge Match - apt name for the event?
"...Bugman's Brewery invite you to the first ever 'Grudge Match' event, to be held at Warhammer World in Nottingham. Can the stout Dwarfs strike an entry from the Book of Grudges, or will their foes add yet another?"

Great mindsIt would also be good fun to sort out a narrative, a theme, the scenario etc.
Should it only be a Brewery event (i.e. those of us with more than one army could band together to go against those of us who only have Dwarfs?) or, open it out to anotehr forum(s). I'd quite like a Dwarf vs. HElf (War of the Beard anyone?) or Dwarf vs. Greenskins (name numerous legandary battles).

You could also do this:
eg, you have 8 brewery members
5 of them have 2 or more army's.
4 dwarfs vs: O&G, skaven, chaos dwarves and chaos. (Or other evil things)

I would be provisionally interested depending on cost, time, date etc etc
Rail down from Lancaster is easy enough for me and I know someone not on the forum but a good Dawi nontheless who might be interested.

Ideally for me, this would be towards the end of this year / early next year. Will give me time to get some painting done as I'd really like to have some of my own models if possibleI would be provisionally interested depending on cost, time, date etc etc

Price would be cost of travel / accomodation (if living far away), food + Drink money. If everyone was up for it, I'll investigate the team T-Shirts. I'd need definite numbers and deposits though as I'd rather not get stung for the lot if people decided to flake
For me it'll cost the petrol money, food and beer money and the cost of a B&B nearby. And say £15 for a campaign T-Shirt

I'd say later this year early next, summer from now is not going to be good for me with baby due in a few weeks, and job prospects looking grim. I can bring 10k though all might not be painted, but will be keeping a close eye as lots is old metal.
I do know a HE player thats got a similar amount of elves that I could ask if he's interested.

I don't blame you about the metal at all. One of the reasons I'll bring my cousin along is so that I can take loo breaks without risking light fingers! I'll keep an eagle eye on your minis for you if you need to step away as I know how much they're worth!I'd say later this year early next, summer from now is not going to be good for me with baby due in a few weeks, and job prospects looking grim. It would be nice if we could use painted only minis just to add to the effect/drama, or at least base coats. Personally, I'd also like to see first hand some of the Throngs members are working on via their threads.
Shall we say at some point in the new year then? That may seem like ages away, but 5 months will go plenty quickly, especially with a young 'un on the way! Will give us all a chance to paint up some units and for me to at least get familiar with the 8th ed game rules.
Also gives us the chance to muster up some interest with opponents and do some hype etc. Sound good to everyone?

That sounds cool to me. I could field a throng of 6ooo pv if needs be plus any others I can acquire between now and whenever.(loads of metal and plastic).
(Will the country be scoured for false beards, will we have to plait them with golden beard clasps and tuck them into our belts so as not to knock any figures off or across the table.)
(I would be coming from west Wales so if anyone needed a lift to Lenton from around this way or on route, I,d be willing to give them a lift.)

Been speaking to a mate called Mark Borland who runs some quite big demo games at events. He's doing a 20k lizzies vs 20k of chaos, made up of 4 sub armies of 5k each (BoC, DoC, CD & WoC). Anyways, here is some advice from him.
Hi Rob, we have playing these demo games for about six years now & have settled on what we think works best in a large game enviroment.
Our board is 16' x 4', we tried wider boards but found that it took too long to get into a fight, this may need to be reviewed with the larger charge distances in 8th.
We can generally get six turns in over two days finishing mid afternoon on the Sunday.
I would advise some preperation though, for instance the whole chaos force is magnetised or stuck down onto movement trays & stored in boxes.
Our house rules for magic are:
Any effect that targets the whole battlefield is limited to 60"
4D6 for the pool, with highest two as dispel dice
Cap of 24 dice
We also appoint 1 general who has an 18" influence with 3 sub-generals who have a 6" influence
We generally have two generals with a number of guest commanders over the weekend, so the more players the quicker you can play.
One last thing is that this kind of thing is not for the power gamers as it needs to throw army selection out of the window to get as much unusual stuff on the table as possible.

Just put the feelers out to GW:
Dear Warhammer World Events team,
I'm a member of the Bugman's Brewery forum (www.bugmansbrewery.com) and I'm currently planning a bit of a spectacle and would very much like to host it at Warhammer World (my forum alias is Alebelly_Cragfist).
I'd like to start an annual event for the forum, namely GRUDGE MATCH! The idea is that we get a load of us together to re-enact one of the major battles in Dwarf history (the type that would have several hundreds of pages dedicated in the Book Grudges!) We're hoping to start with the War of the Beard if enough High Elf players have the stomach for it, and I doubt they do!
We're thinking tens of thousands of points worth of GW miniatures, we want it to be epic in scale. Multiple Throngs marching to enact revenge!
Sooo...
What's the chances of us booking at least 5 themed tables if not (ideally) a few more? I'd like this to be something a bit special, even for Warhammer World. We're thinking T-Shirts, posters, a running narrative, specific objectives, Army General rules and the like. Certainly worth a photo or two on 'What's New Today.'
No dates have been finalised yet and it won't be until 2012 (I've just got back into the hobby after a 20 year hiatus and have lots of painting to do!)
In principle, would you be up for hosting something a little bit grander than the normal gaming group popping in to play on a few tables?
If any of you play Dwarfs (or H. Elves), you're more than welcome to join us of course! Being Dwarf players, I needn't mention that there will be one or two beers (or Ginger Ales for our younger members) in the Bugman's bar afterwards!
Really look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,

You guys better take a ton of pictures.
I would love to come.
Gosh, why dont we have teleporters yet.....
When we have a games day or some national big warhammer event in the USA, I think I am going to get everyone in the States and maybe Canada together for that!
In fact, I just check Chicago Games Day is coming up, July 30th, perhaps, and it is a bit last minute, perhaps us USA Brewery Players can get together and have a similar event?!?

Thanks for putting out the feelers, really helps. We'll have to think of a format which allows us to all play together without slowing everything up for the day.
Quick question, 1 day 2 days? I've assumed a Saturday would suit most people best?
Update from GW (that was quick!)
Reply from Nick @ GW:
Wow!
Matt, this sounds ridiculously awesome! Can you tell me roughly when you want to book? Our 2012 is already getting pretty booked up….

My reply:
Cheers for the quick reply Nick!
Glad you like the sound of it. If we pull it off properly, it'll be epic in every sense of the word - It's the sort of game I'm sure we all secretly fantasise about!
I've literally only just begun to put the feelers out to the forum today; we have about 10 people showing a keen interest on the side of the Dwarfs. We're yet to approach any of the High Elf forums as we'll need to have a few things pinned down for them to buy into it and start to build some excitement about the event. It would be nice to present the concept to them by way of artwork, posters etc.
I thought that may be the case with the event hall and bookings. If I was to say sometime between Jan and March 2012, would you be able to highlight any dates? I'm assuming a Saturday would suit most people better, but I'm open to suggestions just in case people want to play over 2 days. We're going to have to develop some system to try and get the turns moving quickly between both sides, or it could be a very long day!
If you can give me a hint what suits your schedule best, I can get a consensus on the dates and come back to you with something concrete.
Thanks again!

I am so excited for you guys!
If you guys are hosting this in 2012, put me on for coming.
Perhaps by then I can get a passport, some money, and some time to skip over the pond and come visit!
Man! This is so awesome I feel like all giddy and excited and I may not even be coming!

Flights? How long is a piece of string? Generally the earlier you book, the cheaper it is. It'll be a few hundred dollars though. How much will it cost in general?
I dont really know much about these things.
Nottingham is fairly central UK, so I'm not sure it'll make too much difference from which airport you land in.
Buses are cheaper than trains. If you book a train ticket early, you'll likely get a return train ticket from London to Nottingham for under £50 (or whatever that is in dollars). You might get a bus (longer) for around £30. There's often deals on though, just have to get lucky.
I have no idea how long you would be staying, so can't really advise on accomodation. There's a massively wide range of costs from £30 a night upwards.
But in reality, if I was planning a trip to America for a week, I'd assume I'd be spending at least £1000-£1500 all in.
