dear friends

My name is Alessandro. I live in a little town near the beautiful Venice, in Italy. I'm 21 years old, i study Italian Literature and i'm in love with poetry, in particular Dante Alighieri's and Ugo Foscolo's poems (italian romanticism). But i study also Greek, Roman and Viking culture (myths, religion, costums and traditions, their society, their way of fighting, etc..). Boring? Maybe, i don't think so :P
My first experience with Dwarves is The Fellowship of the Ring, the movie. Then i discovered Magic the Gathering and it's fantastic pictures of dwarves (stout and brave, not "Snow White"ones). It happened seven years, when i received my first Warhammer Dwarf miniature. And so the story of my collection began....

I'm trying to draw and write something about my Dwarves, inspired by my study and my many characters.

Here is me! Posted Image

Society for Creative Anachronism I think

It's like a cross between LARP and Re-enactment

The SCA is becoming more and more like a proper re-enactment, to be perfectly honest. I've been playing for about 15 years, and have watched it progress ever closer to more and more historical accuracy while simultaneously avoiding the pitfalls of a lot of more hardcore re-enactment groups.

I'm primarily a rapier combatant, and now with the advent of Cut and Thrust, you can basically adopt an orthodox period style if you're so inclined and able to do the research. I do period rapier (spanish, Italian, etc), period longsword (german, mostly), and have even done some period work with spears, polearms, etc.

The SCA is really cool ahistoric crucible that leads to some amazing research and recreation. And, it's a lot of fun.

Hello fellow Dawi,
I’ve been posting for a bit now and thought it was about time I posted here and let you guys know a little about me. My real name is Andrew, but only my wife and parents call me that. To my friends and co-workers I’m just Hod. Long story behind the name, lets just say it started in high school and evolved over many nights of drinking. I was born and raised in the exotic land of Albuquerque New Mexico and yes it’s part of the United States (you’d be surprised how many times I get asked this by US citizens). I was once asked if I rode a horse to school.

I went to the University of Arizona (at least I have a vague memory of walking onto a campus between the long nights of partying) for business and upon graduation started a video game studio with a few of my old friends from high school and still, miraculously, work there eight years later.

I collected GW way back in the early nineties and have quite a good collection of Marauder Chaos Dwarfs and a few Beastmen and Daemons. About five years back I found my old stuff and thought, why the hell did I ever stop this. Started by painting some of my Chaos Dwarfs but before long I stumbled upon Rackham’s Confrontation line (while it was still alive) and fell in love. I bought a bunch of the Asian themed goblins and painted them on and off for a couple of years. For a long time I did a lot more collecting (nice word for an unhealthy obsession) than I did painting and probably have about 300 combined blisters and boxes of Rackham miniatures, almost all unpainted. I actually have six GW lore based armies planned from all of these Rackham miniatures (Albion, Dark Fey, Fir Bolg, Nippon Greenskins, Empire, Demiurg (40K)). When I will have time to get to them is the real question though.
I got into Dwarfs because I picked up a group of 40 or so Marauder Dwarfs (sappers, thunders and slayers) on eBay that were mistakenly marked as Chaos Dwarfs and really liked their look. During a particularly busy time at work I wanted to paint something that didn’t stress me out (since painting Rackham is like painting a piece of art and you want to do them to your highest standard), so I started to paint my dwarfs and haven’t looked back. I really enjoy painting these stout, stubborn, beer guzzling mother (I curse to much) ers.

I still haven’t played a single game of GW because I am waiting until I have a fully painted army to get into it. With this unit painting competition getting going, this will hopefully be sooner than later since lately the competitions are the only time I seem to really get going on my painting.

As a picture I’ll show me explaining the finer points of GW painting to my cat Whiskey. Too much ale might be the explanation behind why I thought this was necessary for his education.

Tromm!

I'm not one for long introductions but I don't like posting on a new forum without letting people know who I am. :) My name is Dave, I'm 24 and living in Belgium.
I'm a relatively new Dwarf player (2-3 years), I played Imperial Guard 40K mostly before I switched to Fantasy. So you could call me a shooty player.
However that is changing since I just love bashing in with my Hammerers and annoying rangers. :) I didn't pick Dwarfs because of the shooty aspect, but as far as I could remember I always loved the Dwarfs in the fantasy setting. The traditionalists, the grumbling, the beer, the food, the wild binging parties, (the ***** climate..)... Just like home.

Cheers! :victory:

Hey guys,

My name is Andrew and I'm English - though where I live is a good question. I'm currently in England, but for how long is anyone's guess. I started collecting about 18 years ago and have always had a Dwarf army of some description. I'm currently looking to completely rework my throng, so I signed up here. In real life I'm an academic, I'm married and my wife and I are expecting our first child in September.

I've lived in various countries in recent years, and could well be spending some time in Germany and South Africa soon - so, as you can imagine, finding time (and space in suitcases) for my hobby is a real challenge. I've been out of the hobby for a good while, but I'm now back and looking to get cracking with the short-folk once more.

As a bio (people seem to have added them) - I attended the universities of London, Warwick and Manchester and worked for several others. I have a background in martial arts, though I've fallen out of practice with all the moving of late. I also cook a lot, and once trained as a chef.

Anywho, that's me. Nice to meet you all.

Hello, good folks of Bugman's Brewery.
My name is Darko Stojanovic, and I am an art and design student from Belgrade, Serbia. Illustration is my passion, and I dearly hope to make a living in that profession someday. I am 21 right now (I feel rather old, because I have two younger brothers).
Our own world and reality aren't spacious enough for my imagination and creativity, so I spend quite some time exploring other realms, free of all bounds. Old World, Aarklash, Tamriel, Westeros, Randland, Middle- Earth, Galaxy far far away, and many more were all thoroughly explored. I kinda dislike settings which are 'closed' and finished, as I prefer to fill the gaps with my own ideas.
I have some ideas for a setting of my own, using Slavic mythology as an inspiration, but more of that later. ;)
I am also an avid reader, and like a good PC game from time to time. Comic books are my constant companion. I am fluent in French and English (and Serbian, of course), and can understand some basic Latin (we had a really good Latin teacher in high school, but the subject itself lasted only two semesters ).
A friend of mine introduced me to Warhammer in the 7th grade of elementary school, and I've been painting minis ever since. 'Elgi or Dawi?'- it was the first dilemma, but in the end Thorin Oakenshield and the rest won the day (I've been re-reading Hobbit at the time).

Here's my autoportrait, done for a college assignment.

And here's a link to my DeviantArt gallery, I would be glad if you could take a look and give me some feedback.

That's all, folks. :)

Another Darko Stojanovic on Bugman's! Have a tall one on me! In a gaming community as small as ours (Serbian), it is rather interesting finding someone you share full name with! :guinesssmilie: :guinesssmilie:
