Like the standard conversion, where's the ancestor face from? Altogether a great looking unit :)

I think that the icon comes from miner's plastic set...

I think I've said it before but your style of keeping it dark besides the elements you want to pop and then making those really pop is awesome.

keep it up, I'd like to see an entire throng looking amazing like that.

:hi: THX!

A quick tutorial? My friend, I needed 17 years of practice, failures and try-outs to get my painting-skills of today. So there is no tutorial, just experience. Sorry.

You could always try a small one ;P

Ok-you're right.

that's roughly what I do:
  • Basecoat with black
  • Drybrushing with white, brown, yellow...: depending on what I wanna do.
  • layer with washes to get my basic tone, highlighting with the similar colour (a step brighter)
  • rewash to intersify the tone
  • wash of the whole mini with badab black to intensifiy the black-lines-look
  • reworking with washing and highligts on the "bright-colour-ares" like feathers, sword-hilts etc.
for example, my blue armour is: black basecoat, white drybrush, wash with asurmen blue, highlights with pale blue, wash with badab black.

I use a mix of Revell-Colours and Citadel-Washes. Dunno the names!

I hope that was helpfull. ;)

My Sk did a unit like you have done with your Ancestors. He calls his the Stone and Steel brigade. He got the idea form watching the LoTR movie. I will get him to post the unit in his gallery.

LOTR and the first Gortek and Felix-book was my inspiration.

The ghosts of the ancestors fighting to protect their home...and showing the young ones what a real Dawi looks like in combat :)!

Be sure to post me a link to the Stone n Steel Brigade of your Sk (dunno what does this mean...)
