Apologies if this is the wrong forum.

Does anyone know a dwarf word for 'stubborn' or 'single minded'? - I've looked in the various lexicons linked to on this site.

Also, is my attempt at translation below OK?

Karak-a-Gormungoraz (hold of the high hall)

Karak-a-Dukaz-Ruvalkit (hold of the damp passages, lit: little river passages)

Thanks!

Duk would be low or narrow tunnel
Az would be waraxe

so Dukaz sounds like it would be low-waraxe

another word for wall would be Barak which also means fortified gatehouse, door, tower, or wall

I am presently working on combining an extensive list from all the BL books, codexes, and various legicons put out by GW, ie Stone and Steel, WD, and Grudgelore.

For stubborn, single-minded there are a couple possiblities...

Garaz - fearless, rebellious, young
Grom - brave or defiant, tough, hard
Grim - harsh, unyielding

Karak-a-Khaz-Gorm (Hold of the High Hall) Khaz - Hall, Gorm - old, high, wise, powerful, bearded (Az - axe)

Karak-a-Duk-Ruvalk (Hold of the river passage) Duk - low, narrow tunnel, Ruvalk - river
or
Karak-a-Duk-Ik (Hold of the damp tunnel) Ik - putting one's hand in something slimy and unpleasant in the darkness
or
Karak-a-Ungor-Slotch (Hold of the damp passage) Ungor - caverns, tunnel, Slotch - sodden mix of water, mud, and pulverized stone at the bottom of a mine

Those are my interpretations, hope it helps.

Thank you both - that's given me some more to play with.

I was attempting to use -az as a signifier of place - is this unnecessary for a stronghold name?

I found Slotch, but couldn't make it sound right.

Anyway, I'll let you know when I post my first dwarf-fiction.
