Roll the artillary die, if its NOT a misfire then you can re-roll hope for a better score. If it is a misfire you can't re-roll and must roll on the misfire chart. If the 2nd roll is a misfire you don't shoot that turn, if it isn't a misfire thats how many HITS (not shots) you get whether its bigger or lower than before thats all you get.

True, but they don't blow up either and 10 can hold up blood knights for 2 turns (well mine did the last time I played VCs) and they cost less.
