Ahoy,
After countless hours, I've finally finished my first dwarf unit (the warriors from the BFSP).
I'm keeping my goal pretty small, with a 500 point list that I'm working towards finishing, but it feels good to have this one out of the way!

I tried to work towards have an individualistic look for each model, yet, in the end, uniformity with the overall colour scheme. Without further ado, here's the unit:

Here's the champion of the unit. I spent a little more time on this guy.

The standard. Really liked how the face turned out on this one.

Thanks for looking,
Time to get rolling on the next ones!

They have a bit of a cartoony look to them with the thick black lines and rainbow scheme. I imagine that would really make them "pop" from a short distance e.g. on the gaming table, though personally I've always seen Dwarfs more as a very organised sort of fighting force. The Dwarfs I'm working on will (eventually) have a very unified colour scheme.

I like your bases, I never feel as though "grassy" bases suit Dwarfs (you can't really imagine them frolicking in an emerald green field, unless you're into that kind of thing), but I like what you've done with the grass on these ones. Feels like maybe they've marched out of the snowy mountain peaks and are almost at the base of the mountain.

You might want to try adding the smallest amount of water to your silvers when painting large flat surfaces like axes/hammers, by "smallest amount" I mean dip your brush into some clean water, wipe most of it off before dipping into silver. In my limited experience with metallics (painting Ironbreakers as my first ...) it really helps to smooth out brush strokes which can bother the eye when the matter at hand is supposed to be flat like a blade.

Hi Lad,
I like you work a lot, as it was said it is a little bit cartoonish, but why not if you like it. It is very neat and careful painting. Good job. Bring us more.

It may have been your first dwarfs, but you must have painted something before this?

I enjoyed studying your work. It may be labeled cartoonish, but looked quite efficient.  Particularly the way you had done highlights.

Wish my first BfSP-dwarfs were looking that good.

Cheers,

:drinks:

Looking good, nice work, but how will you "individualistic look for each model, yet, in the end, uniformity with the overall colour scheme."

you use a lott of different colours, will you splitt up these 10 models so the go in different units to get a uniformity ?

Keep up the good work and have a nice ale on my tab , :guinesssmilie:

I think Eskabar means that by keeping the blue/red/green is the unit colour, but that each model has a variation on where these colours occur; red shield, blue sleaves, green armour edging on one, and green shield, red sleaves, and blue armour on another.

Very nicely painted mate and I like the cartoon style, it instantly adds character to them ;)

Bit too many colours for my taste but you've done a fine job in brightening up the BfSp monstrosities :)

Aye--they do have a cartoony look: something I feel the dwarfs lend themselves to quite nicely :)
They are more colourful than most dwarfs, but the camera is definitely helping out with the rainbow department!

I agree with the stands, too! Sometimes you see far too much grass... and I surely don't see many dwarfs living on those types of mountains! I'm glad you like them :)

Yeah, in regards to the metallics, it is still something I'm trying to perfect... It seems I'm never satisfied with the GW metallics though.

Thanks, I'm glad you like them! I'll try to bring more as soon as possible (which is never as soon as I'd like!)

Aye, they are my first dwarfs, but not my first painted models :)
I've been playing off an on for a long time, and in recent years managed to get a little over 1000 points of painted Dark Elves together. At the time, I was working to get them on the table, rather than make them "look good," so they don't readily compare in style to what I've done with these dwarfs. Maybe I'll post a few pics of the army to give an idea a little later!

I'm glad you like them! I'll try to bring more your way!

Thanks! Ok Okri (thanks!) answered the question for me! My army will be uniformed with the three primary colours blue, red, and green. The camera has excentuated the colours in the picture a bit: in real, they actually come together nicely.

Haha, thanks! I think I'll be bringing out some non-BfSp warriors next!

I really appreciate all the feedback--Cheers! :drinks:
