Did it open in excel for you? With 3 worksheets in it? If not you need to go to Microsoft and download the compatibility update for excel 2003 to make it be able to ready excel 2007 files.

Sorry I haven't posted any updates I've got finals next week and I'm trying to finish up school projects. In another week or so I should have some more work done on the army list. Until then any comments and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Is anybody still interested in this? I've spent several hours on it and I'm just wondering if I should continue to post it online or just have it for my friends and myself.

I, for one, am more than lazy enough to use it instead of trying to do it the old traditional way with paper and pencil!

you've done some awesome job so far.

Hero options do not count points properly, but unit options are fine...

How do you enter more then one core/special/rare? do you just copy the block?

please continue! :guinesssmilie:

None of the blocks except some of the core count points correctly. The core doesn't count all of it right either. I was just trying to get all the options available to units on there first then work on getting the points to add correctly. Right now I'm working on getting runes worked out kind of a pain the way I have to make it work in excel. The plan for the blocks is to write an VB macro that creates the blocks for you. So when you type at the top 1 core and 2 rares it'll create 1 core block and 2 rare blocks. I don't think that will be too hard I just haven't focused on that yet.

As I've said, I'm keen on this, but don't currently have the time or software. I may be able to get a look in after this week.

Update! Had some extra time check it out let me know what you think. Still have to get the number of unit boxes macro written and the runes to work. The runes are kinda a pain with the way I have the excel sheet set up but I'll figure it out. Let me know what you think of it so far!

Hmmm by not making it 2003 compatabile from the start, (unless you have the update) it may stuff a few people.

With regards to excel sheet, you are obviously aware some stuff doesnt work. The top bit of the army list sheet i would expand sideways, so taking up less room downwards. Use comments (which are pastable) to help people put the right things in the right places, or you can change putting Xs to drop down boxes.

You may also want to put a 4th/5th sheet in which allows a quick print out/paste into forums section and a normal large printout with stats etc.

You can "hide" the blocks using macros.

Good work

Ya the plan was to use a macro to hide some of the blocks I was planning on making about 30 of each one or so. I left it in 2007 for the proper formatting I used when I tried to save it as 2003 it all went to heck. I thought about doing drop downs but typing in a quick X in any of the pink areas is pretty quick that's why I color coded it. I like the idea of the top stuff being smaller I'll give that I try when I can. By comments do you mean when you hover over something It'll tell you what to put there? The print out I was going to try to get figured out once I had the rest of the formulas working but its a great idea. Thanks for the ideas Bugman I appreciate it.

Yes, I presume that's what Bugman meant about the comments. You probably noticed that in the version I sent you. I found it a quite neat way of letting the user know what should be put where. Unfortunately I've just discovered my bathroom floor had rotten through (despite the survey saying it was fine!), so all my spare time has gone into fixing that.

Hello fellow grumblers,

I wanted to share the excel spreadsheet I created for mustering the Dwarven forces as I feel it is more complete than kikilink33's. If/when kikilink completes his/hers with all the macros I am sure it will be uber-fantastic and do everything under the mountain. I tip my helm off to you for tackling macros and keep at it. Until then please give mine a shot and provide some feedback.

A brief outline of my army list creator:
1) All units, characters, options, runes are included (not special chars though)
2) The sheet is protected to help minimise accidental deletions (it can easily be unprotected for those interested in tinkering)
3) I allowed room for 20 units as it fits nicely onto an A4 page. This can easily be expanded by Inserting lines & copying/pasting the line above
4) The options are set out that only relevant ones are shown. eg. When Warriors are selected there is an option for shields, great weapons, rangers & command
5) There are comments on some of the cells to help explain what the cell is about
6) I highlighted the cells yellow which can be edited. This can be removed after unprotecting the sheet if you wish
7) My personal favourite, when creating Runic Items you have to name the item. eg. Dugan's Mail of Dwarfliness. If you don't name it then you won't get a costing for it.

When opening it doesn't matter if you select enable or disable macros. I'd used a macro when creating but removed it afterwards.

I just inherited a Dwarf force so I'm keen to sharpen my axe and get chopping.
