Gw Australia Dwarf Resin Model The mysterious throne of power ...

So GW Australia did release one limited edition of an resin drop pod in 1999, with box, rules, and certificate of authenticity.
And I have just been able to bought an limited edition dwarf throne of power, released in 2001, still in resin, with box, rules, etc, etc . ( first time I did see it ... )
It was apparently the last model made by GW Australia.
Anyone know if any other model has been made before ?
( like something released in 2000 ? )
And anyone here know more about this model ? Who sculpt it, why it has been made, etc, etc .... !

Hi ;
Apparently I'm the first collector to get that item : )
Will have to ask stunties if he know more about it ....
.... Apparently no certificate has been made for it, but I have heard from the seller that less than 200 has been made.
And I will post the rule when I will have the model in hands
Anyway, it's an nice item. Oh, and bought on ebay ..... It's curious that no one see it

Why is this made in Resin? All GW stuff is plastic. No certificate made? Are you sure this is an official GW product? I dont recognise the Dwarf model on the throne, does it come on the sprue?
What did you pay if you dont mind me asking?

Hiya ;
I heven't yet contact him, but will do that in the next few days - I'm currently working on my exam for the university
It has been made in resin to make it more valuable I think. GW Australia also make an resin drop pod in 1999 - se limited release space marine on the CCM Wiki
This is an official GW product, came from an ex- GW staff, and as you can see it's write Games workshop and warhammer on the box
It's apparently not an dwarf on the throne, it's seems to be an .... errr... an orc ?
I have paid 136 AU$ for it + 25 AU$ for shipping.
Or between 105-110 € if you prefer

Cant see it being made in resin to be more valuable. It costs a lot of money to make the plastic injection moulds so making one for a 200 LE model isnt cost effective. Thats why LE pieces are made in metal and I'm not sure why this one hasnt been. Plastic and metal are both more valuable than resin.
Maybe GW Oz design new things which dont always get the approval from the main company but they want to release them anyway so they do it cheaply with resin? Or maybe its a staff only piece? GW make what they call LE figures but the only ones that are truly limited to a certain amount of casts seem to be the staff only pieces. Released LE figures do not have a limited number as far as I know so its false advertising really. You may as well say all their figs are LE as even if theres 10 million of them made, its limited to 10 million casts....
My guess is this is a sneaky little present for all the staff in GW oz. Any idea if theres around 200 staff members working there? Maybe GW Oz didnt get the Staff Only pieces like the rest of the world got so they made their own ones to compensate?
Tony Mansfield is in New Zealand and I'm sure this wouldnt have slipped him by if it was for sale at any time. The mans a figure magnet and I swear him and Kev are like the magnetic poles, over time all figures slowly move to either one of them
Looks like a Dwarf on the throne to me but the pics too blurry to see properly. Is the figure on the sprue though or just put there for teh picture?
So basically around £100....ouch thats a lot considering the Unreleased resin models of the slayers sell for about £25 each. Still, sounds like you have spent wisely to me mate. If a few more pop up on Ebay and sell for that, in 10 years they'll be worth £200

Thanks ; didn't ask Kev for the exam, I can pass my exam without them
Resin model make it more valuable - for collectors
I Think they have made it so the 200 lucky guy who get one who can say, "hehe, we have an nice resin model instead of an ugly plastic one".
But, yes, I think it's more cost for GW to make them in resin or palstic instead of metal.
I think they get the approval, but they only want to release it in the OZ. Like the 3UP resin empre cannon only given in the USA.
Or many many others items.
Maybe staff only.... or tournament items ?
I have now contacted Tony ( - I'm now in holidays for one week yhahaaaaaaaaa
And I agree with you about the figure magnet. Didn't make lot of deal with Kev ( I'm not really an dwarf colelctor.... and except dwarf, Kev didn't have lot of stuff =) ) but yes, All the colelctors already make an deal with Tony.
But apparently he didn't have the throne for the moment :D
And yes, 100 £ may be a bit high, but ..... honnestly I didn't think I will won when it when I have bid. I have think, i never see it or heard about it, i'm sure, Kev or tony will won it .... But not :D
25 £ for each resin slayer ?
I will not say how much I have paid for my regiment of slayer or you will not stay my friend Aha :D
Will scan the rules and update the post if I find any more infos ... =)
All the best ;

I couldnt shift those resin slayers for love nor money yet the metal unreleased slayers models sell for £50-60 each. If no one is interested paying £25 for an unreleased resin slayer then I'd say collectors value the metal unreleased stuff more. So why would collectors value released resin stuff more than released metal stuff, doesnt the same apply?
It'd be nice to find out the stories behind this and the other ones but if you do it will probably take a while to piece together all the info. Thats sometimes half the fun though
Did Tony know about the throne before you showed him it though? If he didnt theres hope for us collectors that some things will slip through his fingers
Kev hasnt been aound much so not sure if he pays much attention to Ebay at the moment, I've banned myself until I pay off debts.....
I'd pay £10 each for those resin slayers and I'd begrudge having to pay it but the collector inside of me would insist. I think were talking about the same slayers arent we? These ones, only resin slayers I've seen.

If you can do a better pic of the box that'd be handy mate. I'd like a good look at the Dwarf on there. And the sprue too please

I think they came as part of an army deal, empire and orc.
I never knew this was just an Oz release though.

It says it is a "limited edition Throne of Power", which comes as a boxed set containing:
"one hydrostone throne, plastic orc command sprue & plastic regimental command sprue, as well as optional rules for use in Warhammer."
"With a little bit of imagination, this model can be converted to be used for any army in the Warhammer or Warhammer40K universes."
Theres a couple of close up pics which I can scan and put up here if anyone is interested.
And Oliveraso, did you get it in the end?
How about a few photos?
