lol yep that sprue confirms my non-interest in the plastics smile.gif I cant see it being fake as apparently it costs a lot of money to make a plastic injection thingy for a sprue. It'd be far easier to do recasts of the metal ones but thankfully nobody seems to do fakes anymore. I know the Dwarf on Pony was faked quite a bit so you have to watch out for that model.

I've never noticed the eyes on plastics. A talented painter can always create the expression through the paintjob but someone of my skill level may well be put off by this.

I dont collect them as the metal ones feel like a work of art whereas the plastics feel like toys to me. Theres also the value of the collection, metals never seem to lose their value and only go higher when they go OOP, plastics just seem to get lower and lower in price. Also if I played battles and lost to an elf player I'd be far happier throwing a metal Dwarf at him than a plastic one smile.gif

Metals are just much more detailed, I think. More importantly, all plastics seem to be clones where each metal figure is unique.

When my sister went into a GW to buy me some Xmas pressies they tried convincing her to buy me plastic and said its more detailed !!! She put her foot down and wouldnt accept anything other than metal figs, shame she came out with a load of Orcs for me though smile.gif

I think plastic\resin can be more detailed as I've seen some of the Forgeworld pieces in the flesh but unless you want to pay those extortionate prices, the standard plastics are at best equal to the metals.

Plastics arte definately clones as its down to the assembler to make them unique. A metal model is all the artists own work and my lack of artistic talent cant screw them up smile.gif providing I keep my brushes away from them that is !!!

My recollection of that sprue is that someone at GW dropped the metal mould and it cracked so they could not put the sprue into production.

There were some preproduction sprues run off before the mould was dropped so that is what we see pictures of and what appears occasionally on ebay.

In addition someone at the brewery used photoshop to "cut" the sprue apart and "make" the figure. They also "painted" it with photoshop.

If you search the archives in the brewery you may find that thread.

Cheers,

Anvilarm

lol lets thank that man for dropping it, we got a metal dwarf lord instead smile.gif

I've tried using the search feature here and is it me or does it need improving? I rarely find any of the results useful....

AYE!!!!

You have to see what I did with those Marauder horn blowers. I kid you not, they look like deviants.

I think it looks good, but a bit too 2D, but I can't stand working with metal.

If you do dare to decide to make the snip, I'm sure everyone here would be very appreciative if you could play around with all the possible configurations with full photo documentation before doing anything more permanent with the pieces. wink.gif

And big congratulations on the win! drinks.gif
Whatever the fate of this sprue, it's good to see it fall into the hands of a Brewery member.

Just a thought...
